H1N1 Swine Flu Protection: 6 Easy Steps

Kick H1N1 Influlenza Virus Out the Door

Deborah Oakes, NPS
H1N1 Swine flu protection is clearly better than curing flu. This is true for any flu, not just H1N1 Swine flu. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), everyone will be exposed to H1N1 within two years. So learn to incorporate these methods and use several to prevent flu.

Additionally, flu prevention is clinically proven with some of these suggestions. Don't under-estimate them to stop current flu viruses.

6 Flu Prevention Steps

1) Supplements:

*Vitamin D: actually a hormone and activated vitamin D turns on genes that produce antimicrobial peptides in immune systems. Adults need 2,000 IU daily especially in winter.
*Selenium: depleted from soil and proven prevention against virus. Tests from University of North Carolina exposed mice low in selenium to human influenza virus and it mutated into a virulent strain.
*Probiotics: first-line defense against illness and builds immune systems.
*Elderberry extract: a small study shows 93% of flu patients given elderberry extract were symptom-free within two days.

2) Diet: cut sugars and refined carbohydrates which depress immune systems by 90% within 15 minutes of eating them. Plus, this reaction can last 2-5 hours.

3) Government Flu Prevention Guidelines:
*Frequent hand-washing
*Resist temptations to touch face

H1N1 Swine Flu Protection from India

Dr. Goay, head of Nuclear Medicine and Thyroid Clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, India states:

"The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is."

4) Gargle twice daily with warm salt water or Listerine. H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show symptoms. Simple gargling prevents influenza virus proliferation.

In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple and powerful preventative method.

5) Use a Neti pot to clean nostrils once daily with warm salt water. Blowing the nose hard once daily and swabbing with Qtips dipped in warm saltwater is also effective.

6) Drink warm liquids often. This has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. It washes viruses from the throat into the stomach where they can't survive.

H1N1 Swine Flu Protection

Since we've been warned most will contract Swine flu influenza virus, it's important to follow these steps even if exposure is minimal. According to WHO, the next 2 years is critical for flu protection.
