Habits Can Make or Break You: Developing Good Habits

One of the easiest ways of getting ahead is to develop good habits. This way, you won't have to think about getting everything done, you won't have to think about paying the bills or working in a certain, efficient manner, the habits will already be developed. Your body does them automatically without you even having to plan it all out or have self discipline or anything! This is clearly an important thing to develop.

Live with people who have this habit. That means, even if it is only you. One of the easiest ways to develop a habit is to live with someone who already has that habit. Sometimes, due to parental training or sibling habits, we have developed bad habits. So, in order to counteract this, you might have to live by yourself with the understanding that you also have this habit, but at least nobody else is setting a bad example for you.

Examine the habits you already have. Sit down and go through your daily schedule. Think about working and what you are forced to do, due to work or school schedule, and what you do on your own. Remember that work and school schedules make you do things you may not have the discipline to do on your own. Those habits are NOT developed. They are simply keeping you in line. You will also have to develop those specific habits. Think about your priorities and whether or not you are getting done everything that you would like to get done. Make a list of good habits you have, good habits you would like to have and a third list of bad habits you already have. Then evaluate the lifestyle changes you will have to make in order to wipe out your bad habits and develop your desired good habits.

Change your lifestyle. This is much easier than doing that silly 21 days in a row method. That method never worked for me, even after 45 days! Your current lifestyle supports your current habits and vice versa. If you want to effectively change your habits, you absolutely must change your entire lifestyle, from waking up to going to sleep, and even your sleeping and nighttime habits.

Make a habit of rest. There is a reason why a day of rest is required under Judeo-Christian law. They are not encouraging slothfulness or laziness. They are encouraging six days of productivity and one day of resting from productivity. This is necessary in order for your body to replace all cells in the healthiest manner possible. Your mind also needs a rest. If you are not sure of what day to take off, there is a tradition of taking off Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. Don't even do planning or housework at this time. Only rest, sleep and relax.

Habits can, indeed, make or break you. Developing good habits will make your life run more efficiently, increase your income and productivity, and develop more peace and happiness in your life. This is definitely worth the trouble.
