Hadley Hale True Blood Halloween Costume

Dress Up as Sookie's Cousin This Halloween

Shannon Wilson
Hadley Hale is cousin to Sookie Stackhouse on the popular television show, True Blood that plays on HBO. We were first introduced to Hadley in season 2 and got to know her a little better in season 3. Hadley is consort to Queen Sophie Ann. Hadley was the one who spilled the beans to Sophie Ann that Sookie was "special" and to Hadley's dismay, her young son also has telepathic tendencies. Hadley is a fun character to dress up as for Halloween because she's not one of the expected choices. This article will give you details on how to put together your costume and what you'll need to get.

What you'll need:

Pictures for inspiration (pick pictures based on the Hadley look you want but for this article we're going with one of her looks from Season 2. Here are some pictures you can use. This one and this one)

Long haired blond wig (if you don't have natural blond hair)
Red hair ties
Gold braided hoop earrings (like the one here. They don't need to be real gold, just look like it)
Gold braided bracelet (like this one but try to get one with the holes a little bigger if possible)
Red lipstick
Blush
Eyeliner & eye shadow

Red plaid & denim halter bikini style top (it's ok if you can't find an exact one. The top available here would work for the costume)

Blue denim shorts (like the ones here. Hadley has a bit of plaid on the front of hers. If you want to add that, go to a fabric store, buy a small piece of red and white plaid and sew it on in the style of Hadley's shorts)

Red open toed high heels (Hadley has an adornment on hers. You can choose to get one the same style, such as the ones here that have a bow or you can just opt for a regular pair of open toe heels)

Fake blood (optional)

Putting it together:

First you will want to put on your makeup so you don't chance getting any smeared on your outfit. Do all of your makeup dark, the eyeliner, eye shadow, blush and especially the lipstick. Hadley likes to look sexy so she does it up.

Now get dressed in your clothing. There isn't much to the costume clothing wise so be sure that you feel comfortable wearing that all night.

Next, put on your wig (or style your own hair). Part it in half and tie back each piece with a red hair tie. There should be ends of the red hair tie sticking out on each side so when you make your bow, make sure it isn't too short. Your bangs need to cover your forehead and possible go down very slightly in front of your eyes.

Put on your jewelry next. Now that your wig is fixed or your hair is styled, it will be easy to slip on your braided earrings as you won't have to worry about getting them tangled in your hair as much. Your bracelet should go on next.

The last step is to slip on your fabulous red shoes. Now go out and strut your stuff on Halloween night. If you want a little extra something, take a bottle of fake blood and very carefully put two puncture dot like spots on your neck with a little dribble going down so that it looks like your beautiful Queen Sophie Ann took a bite out of you.
