Haiku: Snow, Snow and More Snow

Snow is Beautiful Until You Have to Shovel it Day After Day After Day!

Karen Zakavec
Winter arrived early in Loveland, Colorado. We had our first snowfall back in October and since then have had several more storms.

Last week we were in the deep freeze along with many other parts of the country. At the beginning of the week, we had snow off and on three days in a row. After shoveling snow several times those three days, I wrote two haiku. They each have a different view of our recent snowy weather.

Snow falls gently down
In the early morning light
Sparkling like diamonds

Snow is piling up
We have to shovel again
Oh, my aching back!

Stay warm everybody!

Revisited your haiku, and can still relate to your theme of lots and lots of snow! Greetings from your teammate (in spirit!) rcj

Very lovely, I have family that lives in Denver and Northglenn, I hear all about their weather. Here in Houston snow is a rarity!

Hi Karen... well done! Strangely, we have not had a lot of snow here in my neck of the woods in Massachusetts. The Cape and the islands seem to be the snow magnet this year. Big storm rolling in on Wednesday, so that may change everything. Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2011! :)

Well done on both of these! We are hoping for enough snow for sledding/skiing in IN! :)

The snow isn't so bad. It is the cold wind...

Perfect contrasts for haiku poetry. This was perfectly paired as couplets. On the one hand the beauty, on the other the pain. How often in life the two come upon us together. Nice work.
