Melissa B
Most women want beautiful hair. Some have beautiful hair and some don't! However, whatever the condition of hair your genes gave you, there is an element of control that you have over your hair. Keeping hair healthy and well managed it vital in the care for lustrous locks. So follow these tips and watch your hairs condition improve.

Stop Over Styling

It's common for women to over style their hair. We blow dry, then straighten and then even curl to add body after that. The problem is - every time you add heat to hair - it causes damage, break down, and split ends. If it's possible give hair a break at least once a week from all heat. Another tip if you straighten your hair is to get a flat iron that allows you to straighten hair while it's still wet. Optimally, you should straighten hair while the hair is still slightly damp. This will allow hair to dry without the scorching heat of a blow dryer, and protect hair from style overload. It also helps hair not be scorched that would otherwise be completely dry!

Brush Hair Regularly

Brushing hair is very healthy for it! When you brush your hair you evenly distribute the natural oils throughout all your hair making your hair appear shinier while reducing the oil build up at the roots. Brushing the hair also stimulates the scalp, which in turn stimulates hair growth. In addition, brushing your hair reduced the "bed head" knots that often end up having to be yanked out. Those dreadful knots cause split ends like crazy! And yet, they are so simple to avoid. Be sure to run a brush through your hair at night for added protection against frizzes and knots.

Over Processed hair screams for help!

So you dyed your hair, got a perm, added highlights to the hair, and a month later got lowlights and a touch up perm? Your hair is screaming for help! Every time you color your hair, perm the hair or anything else that changes it's structure and appearance you chemically impair repair! Regardless of what the box of hair color advertises - it simply will not make hair healthier! Sometimes, it's the added conditioner that is included in the box that enhances the appearance, but a few weeks later your hair will begin to show signs of over processing! Try to limit the amount of chemicals used on the hair and always use a cholesterol hair mask every few weeks on highly processed hair to help moisturize dehydrated ends.

Find Natural Alternatives

There are plenty of ways to care for your hair naturally! You have to be on the look out for them - but they do exist. Some people swear by lemon water highlights in the summer. Others rub olive oil on their palms and lightly give hair a glossy shine before scrunching or even straightening their hair! You can also use vinegar to remove residue off of your hair, promoting more healthy, responsive hair! If you search the web, you are bound to find many natural hair care remedies, tips and tricks!

You can also find many healing natural products in a health food store. these hair products are created without many of the harsh chemicals used in some of todays more popular hair care products. they may be pricier - but worth every penny if it's keeps your hair in perfect health!

Rinse in Cold Water

This tip may seem crazy - but it helps your hair and skin! Rinsing the hair in cold water closes the follicle for shinier, softer, healthier looking hair. It also allows the hair to lock-in the conditioner aiding in the overall health of your hair! As an added bonus, rinsing off with cold water in the shower also helps your skin stay hydrated and softer!
