Hair Care for Hair that Damages Easily?

We all panic when we see hair on our brush or clothing. It is quite normal actually; a human sheds hair every day. However, when you see your hair thinning, split ends, or dry and brittle hair, it's time to take action.

The first thing that needs to be worked on is your diet .What are you eating? No one is asking you of a disgustingly healthy diet, but keep in mind that you should be putting enough nutrients in your body to help it grow and maintain itself. Foods with protein and healthy oils are very helpful for the hair. Try to incorporate different vegetables and fruits into your day as well.

Stress is inevitable, but it can be managed. Practicing meditation and breathing techniques done throughout the day will calm you and at the same time, help you make better decisions. One of the effects of stress is split ends forming in your hair. When this happens, you must get those split ends cut. Ask for a trim; usually 1/2 inch will do. If it is really bad, one inch should be taken off.

Using the right products on your hair is crucial. If you style your hair almost daily, especially with a blow dryer or flat iron, try to minimize how frequent they are used. They damage your hair more quickly. When using a blow dryer or flat iron, it is best to put something in the hair before-hand. Anything is better than nothing. Ideally, a heat-protecting serum from the store is the best. Rub a quarter-size amount in your palm and run your fingers through your hair. When using a blow dryer, use a brush to guide the dryer. When done styling, put the dryer on the cold setting and expose your hair to it for about one minute. This will seal in your style. When using a flat iron, do not keep the iron in one spot. Run it through your hair continuously - even if it takes a few strokes.

What should you do with your hair after taking a shower or going to bed? There are specific ways to minimize damage that could be done. After showering, your wet hair should not be brushed and dryed unless needed. Let it dry first and then style it. If you need to style right away, put a serum in your hair before brushing it. When going to sleep, wearing a silk covering on your head(it can be a scarf or you can buy a covering at Sally's Beauty Supply) or using a silk pillowcase will prevent your hair from damage during the night. It is a very gentle material and will not harm your hair.

Be smart about what you do to your hair.
