There's just something so sexy about being a woman. Buying new lingerie, donning a new look with a great makeover, trying out a new hairstyle or color…. We all need a change sometimes, and what better to change than the color of our hair?
Dyeing our hair a new shade shifts us into a new sense of being, gives us a new persona to assume and fulfill. We can be the boisterous blonde we never were, the seductive brunette, the electric redhead or the mysterious ebony-haired beauty. And with this exciting new shade also comes a stunning blast of self-confidence and invigoration.
Changing the color of our hair gives us freedom and a sense of renewal, even if the only thing different from yesterday to today is the color of the strands on our heads. Depending on your comfort levels, you can try at-home coloring kits or you can make an appointment with your stylist. Opt for highlights only or color your entire mane for the ultimate head-turning factor.
Tips and tricks:
· Try to stick pretty close to your natural color if it is your first time. This way it won't be the end of the world when your roots start growing in.
· Also, you might consider a temporary washout color treatment if you are a beginner. This gives you the freedom and flexibility to remedy the situation if you don't like the new color of your hair.
· If you opt for do-it-yourself highlights, have a family member or a friend help you, if possible. It is always nice to have another set of eyes to guide you through things you cannot clearly see. Mirrors may be deceiving, so having someone there to help really could be the difference between an okay dye job and an excellent one.
· Follow the instructions closely and thoroughly. No skipping steps. Test a small area of your hair as instructed, just to be sure you aren't allergic to anything in the dye.
· Leave your hair down as you color it and you will achieve a more even look. Pinning your hair on top of your head leaves more to chance.
· Part hair into sections and apply color from roots to ends, starting near the temples. Double-check the instructions to be sure you are following them properly.
· To prevent hair from dripping dye on your skin, apply a thin layer of moisturizer or petroleum jelly to the skin at your hairline. Most hair dyes will not drip, but in case they do, this makes cleanup so much easier!
· If you want beautiful blonde tresses, consider seeing your stylist for best results. Dyeing darker hair into a lighter shade, especially blonde, can be a tricky task. Even if you're an at-home hair dyeing professional, remember that it's easier to do it right the first time than to cover up any boo-boos.

Post a Commentim going to dye the tips of my hair red but my hair is kind of v-shaped so how shoud i do it?
well, i'm thinking of dying the tips of my hair red. Like a mellow red, not a bright one. Alos, my hair is a really dark brown, if it weren't for the sun, you'd think it was black. So bleach first? And how should I dye the tips??? O.O
I DID THE SAME THING I WAS BLACK FOR LIKE 3 YEARS AND WANTED TO GO RED. GOING IN THE POOL REALLY LIGHTENED UP MY HAIR AND TURNED IT RED.
I had dyed black hair for six months. I decided I wanted to go lighter. I tried dying it straight to a light brown. Nothing. no change.
I bought take home bleach kits. Mostly didn't work; on some parts my hair had streaks of orange and my roots were blonde! It was awful.
My only remedy was to go to a salon and have them professionally bleach it and then re-dye it a natural color.
If you have non-black hair, it could be bleached at home. You'll want help, because the problem with bleaching is getting consistent shades all around your head.
Then you must dye it the shade you want once it's lightened.
probably not most likely your hair will end up orange i have dark brown hair and i tried to go blond and it was orange I had to get an emergency reconstructive color is what they called it and it was really expensive so probably not a good idea to do it your self
I WANT TO PAINT MY TIPS PINK BUT A HAVE SHORT HAIR DO U THINK IT WILL LOOK RIGHT
I have dark black brown hair that is dyed and I want to go lighter to blond brown were do I start or what can I do
I dyed my hair black, will it look normal if I bleach it blonde MYSELF?
ADVICE FOR ALL:
KIM- since your hair is already all black (with temporary dye as I understand) the only way to go a lighter color is to wash out the tips...if you have a light color hair naturally, red will show up well. if not I'd say wash all color out and you'll have to bleach it. then use the red dye on your tips. then dye all your hair except the tips. because the colors are so drastic there are no temp ways to have a bold red on dark hair sorry.
PATRICIA: you're gonna need to buy a toner, they sell them at most beauty supply stores.
Anonymous: it really depends on your skin tone. your could try a deep reddish brown...think chocolate cherry. or if you want to go light a medium brown might look good.
Ali: if you mean like glitter...no but they do have a hair spray with glitter you can find...especially around Halloween time, but it's not permanent.
Shawna: yeah it's actually pretty easy. again if you have light hair and you really need to do is but the die and only
I have temp color black on my hair. I want to do my tips red. Is it that safe? Is there a temp fix between colors for roots?
