Getting rid of unwanted hairs to be displayed with your bikini is through hair removal. The common and inexpensive ways of hair removal are shaving and plucking. These kinds of hair removal can also be do-it-yourself. For shaving, all you need is some warm water, a razor, or you can also use a shaving gel or cream. The best way to do shaving is having it done in the shower after your skin has being softened by warm water. Go slowly, pulling looser areas of skin taut before running the razor over them. Most people shave in the opposite direction from the hair growth, but shaving in the direction where the hair grows can avoid ingrown hairs. And using shaving gel or cream may also help protect sensitive skin, like the skin around the genitals. Plucking on the other hand is form of hair removal with just the use tweezers. With the tweezers you have to stretch the skin tightly, grip the hair close to the root and pull it out. But plucking can be painful and can cause ingrown hair.
Aside from inexpensive hair removal such as shaving and plucking, many people are turning for a costly waxing and even permanent hair removal with laser treatment. With waxing, a sticky wax is spread on the area and then a cloth strip is applied over the wax and quickly pulled off, taking off the hair root and dead skin cells with it, and it leaves the area smooth and it is long lasting. And with the laser treatment, a laser is directed through the skin to the hair follicle, where it stops growth. This form of hair removal maybe permanent, yet have to be checked every 6 months to a year for maintenance.
Why do we go for these forms of hair removal? A hairless body is seen as more desirable with the swimwear, but it is not just about the social acceptability but rather it is also a matter of hygiene.
