Cutting hair on children is pretty easy, too. Cutting hair on boys or girls can be easier than it looks. I am no hairdresser but when I had no time to run to the hairdressers I took it upon myself to buy a trimmer. Cutting hair is not that hard really. When you purchase a hair trimmer kit it comes with the DVD. The DVD will help you and show you what numbers to use for length. Using the numbers on the clippers will determine the length you want on your child. My child has short and fine hair so I use a number 4 on him and he looks really good with it. Its nice and short. The hair trimmer kit comes with a book, DVD and the number clips and the trimmer.
On boys use the number you prefer and go in sections. Use the clips around the ears that have left and right labeled on them. On a boys hair take the clip off the clippers and use the blade and go up and down right across so that its all nice and straight. Do not use the clippers right across. Use it up and down. Cut as much as needed.
On a girls hair you do not need a trimmer kit you just need the scissors. For bangs brush her hair parted in the center. Take the comb and right in the front take as much as you want for bangs. Go right across with the scissors make it nice and even. Do not make it uneven. Sometimes you can use a piece of string if your child can hold it still it will work. If she needs a trim in the back then have her turn around and brush her hair straight down. After its all brushed have her stand still. Take the scissors and cut of an inch or two. Cut straight across in a perfect line. Try to be a slow as you can if your child moves quick then the scissors my go straight up and make it uneven. So make sure child stays still. When my daughter was little I use to trim her hair while she was sleeping. I would lay her on her back and trim off what I thought she needed trimmed about a inch or so. Now that she is older she sits still for me.
If you want to have your child's hair done professionally that will be good but if your like myself and have no time to get to the salon than learning for yourself will help you in the long run. The amount of a hair trimmer kit is about $40-$60. That will last you a long time and get the warranty if possible. It will save you money in the long run as well.
