Brief Summary of the Musical Play Hairspray Showing at the Broadway Palm

Teenage girls Tracy Turnblad (played by Danielle Arci) and Penny Pingleton (played by Lisa LeCuyer) race home to watch the Corny Collins (played by Scott Moreau) Show where kids dance to the latest tunes and drool over studly Link Larkin (played by Michael-Kennen Miller). They learn the show is going to be live in their hometown of Baltimore and will have auditions the next day and meanwhile is running the Miss Hairspray Contest. Chubby Tracy decides she's going to try out. When Tracy meets Link, she hears chimes and knows she's in love, and sings "I can hear the bells" beautifully. But Link is going steady with stuck up star Amber Von Tussle whose mother Velma Von Tussle is the director of the show. Velma kicks the girls out. Arriving late back to school, Tracy learns she is in detention again, where she learns some good moves from Seaweed including the advice to get on the show council. Tracy does so, and gets endorsement from Pinkies. She's a star. When Seaweed suggests everyone go to Motormouth Maybelle's (played by (Nedgra Culp) Record Shop Amber and Link fight and break up. They discuss what they can do to get their black friends onto the show. When they show up, everyone is arrested and thrown in jail. Tracy's dad bails out everyone by placing their home in hock, but the Governor says Tracy has to stay. Link breaks Tracy out of jail, Penny falls for Seaweed, and everyone meets back at the record store where Motormouth bring tears to the audience's eyes with "I know where I've Been". Everything turns out happily in the end.

Choreography and Staging is Outstanding in Hairspray at the Broadway Palm

Tracy's parents Wilbur (played by Paul Crane) and Edna (played by Chuck Caruso) carry the humorous side show in Hairspray, ending with the fun duet "You're Timeless to Me" which is sweet. Set changes from starry nights in jail, to Tracy's bedroom and home, the TV show, the record store, school and more arrive seamlessly and set up to go.

Most attendees will love the fun, dancing, great singing, humor that is displayed by this show along with the all star cast.
