Hairy Kitchen Magic: Create Homemade Conditioner from Common Pantry Ingredients

J. McDaniel
If you want to find the perfect conditioner for your curly or kinky hair, look no further than your kitchen cabinets. From basic items you can buy at the grocery store, you can create a good moisturizing, conditioning, AND protecting conditioner (that means you may very well be able to toss the leave in conditioner and/or hair oil in the trash).

Creating a natural conditioner is quite easy. These are the ingredients you will need:

1 tbsp mayonnaise
1 egg
1/2 tsp sage
1/2 tsp rosemary
1 squirt of lime
1 tsp apple concentrate OR 1 tbsp 100% apple juice
1 tsp olive oil
1-2 tea bags (green tea for more antioxidant power, fruit for better smell)
1 cup water
cheese cloth or panty hose for straining
1 tbsp pectin

Mix the mayonnaise, egg, rosemary, sage, lime, apple, and olive oil together well. Then add the tea bag(s) and water and microwave for approximately one minute (just enough to heat the mixture up so that everything melts and blends well). Stir after wards and strain if desired. Next, add pectin and stir for three minutes then store mixture in the fridge for 4 hours. Your mixture should come back out thick and creamy. Now you have a homemade conditioner that will reduce or eliminate the need for any follow up product!
