Haiti Relief Efforts in the Cincinnati Area

Emily Harmon
Residents of the Cincinnati area, as well as those across the nation and the world, are hurting for the people of Haiti following an unbelievably devastating earthquake. Many people are donating to the American Red Cross which is a wonderful way to aid the workers and residents in Haiti. Others want to find local relief operations to be a part of. If you live in Greater Cincinnati and wish to help the relief effort in Haiti, here are some local options.

Matthew 25 Ministries. Located in the Blue Ash area of Cincinnati, Matthew 25 Ministries is a Christian-based organization eliciting hundreds of volunteers to help with the Haiti relief efforts. Mathew 25 Ministries was already sending monthly supply packages to the impoverished nation. They have ramped up their efforts, however, in the face of this tragedy. Canned goods and other non-perishable foods, monetary donations, personal care items, and cleaning supplies can all be delivered to Mathew 25 Ministries for shipment and distribution to the people of Haiti. If donating your time is of greater interest to you, Matthew 25 Ministries is also utilizing volunteers to go through and box items to be shipped to Haiti. Matthew 25 Ministries can be found 11060 Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, Ohio. They are found on the web at www.m25m.org and their phone number is 513-793-6256.

Northern Kentucky Water Drive. Students at an elementary school in Campbell County, KY, a southern suburb of Cincinnati, wanted to do something to help the people of Haiti. With the support of the entire school district, students are collecting water to be shipped to the country in need. Students have coordinated drop off areas at the Kroger store on Crossroads Blvd in Cold Spring, KY and County Market in the Village Green shopping center in Alexandria, KY. Anyone can drop off water at either of these locations as donations to the Haiti relief effort. Students may also bring water to any of the 7 schools in the Campbell County Public Schools district.

Many national organizations are soliciting donations for the relief effort in Haiti. Donating to any of these wonderful organizations will help the people of Haiti. If you live in Greater Cincinnati and would prefer to donate your time, or specific goods to the effort, these local options will give you that opportunity. Cincinnati is a city full of heart and caring and the people of Haiti need us. Let's show them how much we care.
