Haiti Relief Efforts Will Continue with Charlotte Medical Personnel Assisting
Medical Personnel from Charlotte Continue to Help with Haiti Relief Efforts
While Haiti has received help from Charlotte residents in the past, there have been renewed efforts since the recent earthquake. Many churches and private citizens have concerns about the health of Haiti's people.
Charlotte has a large Haitian population, and many still have family members in Haiti. Several Charlotte churches have been involved with relief efforts for Haiti for decades.
Several news reporters and medical teams have made it clear that once in Haiti medical personnel and other volunteers will not have what may be considered suitable accommodations. Those volunteering must be prepared to do without, just as the population of Haiti is currently doing.
Volunteers will soon include students of the Wingate University's Physicians Assistants Program. Anyone who wants to volunteer to go to Haiti, and is not sure where to start may want to check with The Salvation Army. Also, The American Red Cross has information about who may be qualified to help in this manner. Medical professionals are needed now, and may be needed for several years.
Before the January 12th, 2010 earthquake Haiti was an impoverished nation. Many churches in the Charlotte area and other communities in the United States have helped with medical ministries for many years. For those who are not familiar with such work, contact links are included below.
To continue with relief efforts for Haiti some groups are recruiting medical personnel that can be in Haiti for several months. Other groups ask that a person volunteer for as little as a week. Some volunteers who are not medical personnel are still needed to help with shipments and rebuilding.
