Neighborhood: Charlotte
Charlotte, NC 28211
United States of America
Charlotte residents are aware that local groups like Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti are continuing in their efforts to help those in Haiti following the earthquake that occurred on January 12, 2010.

Several churches in the Charlotte area have also continued to help with donations and support for groups collecting items to benefit people in Haiti. Over the next few weeks Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti will hold several drives at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3115 Providence Road, in Charlotte for the benefit of Haiti.

The first collection/donation date was on Saturday, March 19th, 2011. The second collection date is Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, and the last collection date will be Saturday April 30th, 2011. The hours for donations on all dates given will be from 10 AM until 2 PM. In a recent communication from Sabine Guerrier, current President of Haitian Heritage and Friends of Haiti, the following items were suggested as donations:

Medical-Over the counter drugs, crutches, wheelchair
Food-Rice, beans, sugar, flour, oil, sardines, peanut butter, tuna fish, spaghetti, tomato

The items collected through this effort of HHFoH will be packed into the second ambulance for Haiti and two bathroom trailers that will be shipped to Haiti in May. A special thanks is given to the Presbyterian Church of Charlotte and members Debbie Wilkinson, the Coordinator for Mission and Outreach and Fred Wally. Ms. Guerrier stated-

"We couldn't have accomplished much of what we've done without their support. Not only they donated the bathroom trailers they're giving us the storage trailers to collect the supplies as well. South Charlotte Rotart Club (Mary Staton, Club President) is also a partner for the collection drives."
