Though disaster struck a far away nation, it could have struck here. Helping others in their time of need is now assurance that you will be helped in your time of need, but its simply the right thing to do. When the recent hurricane leveled New Orleans, help flooded in from around the globe. Money, food, and supplies came from the far reaches of this planet and those nations supported us in our time of need. Now, Haiti is in need and we are willing and able to give back.
It's easy to see why helping others is important. Though Haiti may have been devastated this time around, next time it could be your own hometown and you will rely on others to help you through the destruction and devastation. Many areas within this country could easily be affected by massive earthquakes and disaster would surely ensue. Dependent upon the scale of the destruction, our county alone may not be able to provide all of the relief needed for those affected. We will rely upon outside countries for help and help will come. Countries overlook negative relations in times of need and help others.
Aid will be need in Haiti for months and months and everyone can help out. Its truly not difficult. the American Red Cross relies upon donations to support them when giving aid in unexpected situations such as the earthquakes in Haiti. Te Red Cross will help regardless of funding, but for a few dollars, they can more effectively offer relief to those affected.
Whether you decide to donate to a relief foundation such as the Red Cross, or you decide to organize a local relief effort for funding to those working relief efforts in Haiti, it's only important that you do your part. Simply donate $10 to the American Red Cross, that's truly all that they are asking for from Americans. $10 to save lives, rebuild cities, reunite families, and restore order is a small price to pay. Knowing the the Red Cross will be there if you happen to unfortunately encounter a disastrous event in your life is comforting, reassuring, and priceless.
