Half Hearts and Pink Roses

Linda Stamberger
Pink Roses,

opening of the petals,

For a Valentine,

blooms a penchant born

from lust, the longing

turns to madness, the petals fall

to the ground, and turn to

dust. Rebirth of the new, for

the next year a few,

may experience the passion,

out of one day the year in fashion.

I don't need a bunch of red roses,

to fragrant my house of love,

or a box of candy, or a card with a

painted dove.

Prove to me,

through heart and soul,

how we were meant to be together,

half hearts made whole.
