Half-Awake

Tina Twito
Falling softly through
an avalanche of half-thoughts.
Dry crusts of nibbled nuances
crumbling into night.

Tonight has bitten off its tail,
and left a broken hinge,
left it open just a crack,
to let the sunlight
laugh at mirrored moonlight.

Tomorrow we must start again.
But now the half-light drifts
across the pillowcase,
building latticeworks of time
to climb
or not to climb.

A question for
the harsher light
of morning.
Answers do not
matter now.

The questions are enough
to mark the
pathways of our dreams.
Meet you in
the center of the maze.
I've left a breadcrumb trail.

The birds may swallow all,
but they leave feathers
in their place.

Let's race.

"First star to the right
and straight on till morning".

Tough to be fully awake to all that are happening around us; we need to be half awake but wake up to tough mornings! Thought provoking, Tina - siva
