Halle Berry and Long-term Boyfriend Model Gabriel Aubry Confirm Split

Just weeks ago the entertainment world was somewhat rocked by the announcement that Halle Berry, 43, and long-term boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, 34, had called it quits. The former Hollywood couple split after four year together . Berry and Aubry begun dating almost immediately after meeting on a Versace modeling assignment together in 2006.

What initially appeared to be all the signs of an amicable breakup fast became a situation escalating to the levels in media of mud slinging and whom duped who first. Almost over night the gloves appeared to come off and in between the escalating sides was the gorgeous baby daughter this most beautiful Hollywood couple produced in 2008.

TMZ reports suggested early on that the split was amicable but in fact there could still be quite the battle over custody of the child in the works. The initial custody agreements confirmed that the both parents of their daughter Nahla Ariel Aubry would share custody 50/50. In what appeared to be the estranged couple taking the appropriate steps to avoid custody and care giver issues in future suddenly looked to be a battle for the 2 year old child emerging instead.

Berry did the unthinkable and stepped out with a new man less that 24 hours later after the public split announcement. She was spotted out holding hands with the man dubbed in the media as the "new man" in her life in New York City. Raising eye brows instantly, Berry discover the move to go public with a new relationship so soon was a costly one as reports surfaced within hours of a potential custody battle for the child being considered more seriously than ever by the child's upstanding model father.

According to RadarOnline, "He's also concerned that he's being bad mouthed by Berry people, when he's done nothing to deserve that. If things don't calm down soon, Gabriel is going to really consider his options, and one of those is to fight to take Nahla to Canada to live with him as the primary care giver.

"He loves that little girl more than anything, and he will fight tooth and nail to give her a decent, balanced, normal life away from the craziness of Hollywood."

Berry confirmed in People magazine that the former couple had in fact split months before the announcing the breakup publicly. She added, that they were only waiting to secure a custody agreement that they could each be satisfied with before going public with the split. In her interview with People, Berry claims the reason for the breakup was due to Aubry not pulling his weight in the relationship. While Aubry cited their age difference as a deciding factor in their decision to go their separate ways.

Here's hoping the this former Hollywood couple can keep the peace for the sake of their continued co-parenting well into the future.
