Halle Berry Never to Marry Again

Halle Berry has been dating Gabriel Aubry, a male model, for over a year. But Berry says she doesn't plan to ever marry him or anyone else again.

"I will never, never get married again," Halle Berry, 40, says in the April issue of InStyle.

"Actually it's just that now I've come to a place where I think two people can share their lives without the ring, without the piece of paper."

Halle has tried marriage before and it didn't work out so great. Berry was wed to Atlanta Braves player David Justice and R&B singer Eric Benét. Both marriages failed and ended in divorce. Halle has not had the best of luck with love. It's no wonder she wants to avoid all of the strings that come with marriage.

Halle met Aubry, 31, at a Versace ad shoot in November 2005. They announced that they were a couple at the opening of a Versace store in New York City three months later. They have been an item ever since.

"After my last relationship [with actor Michael Ealy] broke up I was feeling like, well, it wasn't that I didn't want to be in a relationship, it's just that I thought it would be okay to be on my own," she tells InStyle.

"But he was disarmingly sweet and caring and different. In the past I've been attracted to big personalities. Gabriel was shy. He hardly talked to me at first."

The different personality made him interesting. "I had to work at this a little," she says. "It wasn't a slam dunk; it wasn't the guy just showering affection on me. It made it more interesting. We were equally matched - put it that way."

So what about children? Berry has stated before that she would like to adopt very much. "I definitely want children. Very much."

When she does have children she wants to instill her values. "I want my kids to realize it's only through hard work that any success or real joy comes," she says. "It's not about money; it's the intangible rewards - having integrity and doing what you say you're going to do."

Berry has a thriller with Bruce Willis, Perfect Stranger, which opens April 13.

In February 2000, she was involved in a car accident when she hit another vehicle after running a red light and left the scene before the police arrived. The hit and run was reported and Berry, who had sustained a head injury, later stated she had no recollection of the accident and pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge. She paid a fine, paid restitution to the other driver, performed community services, and was placed on three years' probation.
