Halle Berry Stands Her Ground for Privacy on Her Split from Gabriel Aubry

Celebrities and privacy mix like oil and water at times, making it difficult for them to have any sort of real life of their own. Halle Berry is no exception, having recently split from her partner of five years, Gabriel Aubry. Halle had a daughter with him, Nahla Ariela Aubry, who is two years old. Halle spoke about her split on Today Show and how she views herself at this point in her life.

Despite the split, Halle remains very close to her daughter, having recently told Vogue magazine that her private life is now private, and not something for the paparazzi to be a part of. The September issue of Vogue paints a candid profile of Halle and her longtime dream of a home life with her daughter. Finally recognizing her personal boundaries and not afraid to exercise them with her publicist, she mentions how her values are no longer of the glitz and glamor type. Rather, Halle is ready to meet her own needs at her own dictates.

Maybe it is because so many Hollywood figures find themselves trying too hard to live up to the expectations of their public, their publicists, and everyone else around them that they forget about their real needs, which tend to be put on hold for a long time. Like Halle said, "not talking anymore" about who she really is and wants to be really is the best way for her to meet her needs and of course those of her daughter.

Halle Berry is a natural at home, playing with her daughter while tending to her favorite charities, one of which is the Jenesse Center. This center provides aid and transitional housing to women who have left abusive boyfriends or husbands and need to go somewhere for their safety. Even though Halle Berry is very much a strong woman - she has survived two divorces from David Justice and Eric Benet, a misdemeanor charge involving a car accident back in 2000, and is a type 1 diabetic - she knows where her heart is when it comes to giving back to the community. No doubt she will be able to weather this split-up from Aubry well and even become closer to her daughter in the process. Having come from a family where her own mother was a single parent of two girls, Halle plus her older sister Heidi. Halle's experience from her mother was not that positive, revealing that her mother appears to have resented having to bring up two children after divorcing their father. Neither divorce nor single parenting is easy on children, but Halle clearly does not want to make the mistake of being alienated from Nahla in any way.

Well respected for her acting talent, Halle has been nominated a total of 47 times for her dramatic roles in movies that include "Die Another Day" (2002), "BAPS" (1997), "Monster's Ball" (2001), and "Executive Decision" (1996).
