Halle by Halle Berry Perfume Review

Halle Berry, an Academy Award winning actress and model, can now add fragrance designer to her resume. Berry claims she's always been interested in fragrance and this year she's developed her first signature scent, called Halle by Halle Berry. Halle Berry is known as one of the most glamorous women in the world, and an icon of beauty. I wondered if Halle by Halle Berry perfume would be as glamorous and beautiful as Halle Berry herself, so I decided to test this fragrance.

Halle By Halle Berry Perfume: My Experience

In the magazine advertisements for Halle by Halle Berry perfume, a tousled Halle Berry is pictured on the beach, and the ad urges us to "reveal the woman within." This image and slogan suggest a fragrance which is inviting, down to earth and sensual, and possesses the star quality of its creator. When I sampled Halle by Halle Berry, I had a very different impression of this perfume.

Halle by Halle Berry perfume is an eau de parfum spray, but in my opinion, the scent feels more like a cologne or eau de toilette. It just doesn't have that substantial, full bodied fragrance one expects from a parfum. Halle by Halle Berry perfume is a woody oriental that contains notes of fig, bergamot, mimosa, amber, sandalwood and cashmere musk. When I first tried Halle by Halle Berry, I felt enveloped by a pleasant fragrance that was agreeable enough but seemed to lack presence; however, the longer I wore this scent, the more I was overcome by the sweetness of this perfume.

In my opinion, Halle by Halle Berry perfume has a note of sugary sweetness that tends to overpower this perfume and may annoy the wearer (and others too). For a fragrance that is touted for spring and summer 2009, Halle by Halle Berry doesn't feel like a carefree, summertime beachy fragrance. Instead, the perfume just seems deficient in personality, and the strong candy-like notes in this fragrance feel cloying. After wearing Halle by Halle Berry for a while, I felt overwhelmed by the sweet smell and I longed to take a shower and wash this scent off my skin.

Where to Buy Halle by Halle Berry Perfume

Instead of going the high-end route and marketing her fragrance to upscale department stores and boutiques, Halle Berry has made Halle by Halle Berry perfume available at drugstores and retailers like Wal-Mart. In the Halle by Halle Berry Collection, Eau de Parfum Spray is $35 for 1.7 fl. oz., $28 for 1.0 fl. oz. and $17 for 0.5 fl. oz. According to the Halle Berry Fragrances website, Halle By Halle Berry fragrances are available at Kohl's, Sears and JC Penney.

In conclusion, Halle by Halle Berry fragrance did not live up to my expectations and I found the scent sickeningly sweet and not as beautiful or complex as its fascinating, gorgeous and talented creator Halle Berry. Let's hope that the next time around, Ms. Berry can fine tune her second perfume and come up with a more winning and wearable fragrance for her fans.
