Troy Polamalu Takes One for the Team and Reverses the Madden Curse

LIVIN
The decade long Madden curse has ended. Better yet, the Madden Curse is reversed. Thanks to spectacular safety Troy Polamalu, the Madden Curse has claimed its' last victim before going retrograde. Madden 2010, released to the general public on August 14th, 2009 featured Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on the cover. In the first half of the first game of the 2009 NFL season, Troy Polamalu injured his Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL).

The previous subjects of the Madden curse (starting with the most recent) were Brett Favre (Madden 2009) who was pictured in a Green Bay Packers jersey, but played for the New York Jets and finished the season, well, cursed; Vince Young (Madden 2008) will be glad to hear the Madden Curse is reversed - maybe it'll help him get back out onto the football field as a starting quarterback in the NFL; Sean Alexander (Madden 2007); Donovan McNabb (Madden 2006); Ray Lewis (Madden 2005); Michael Vick (Madden 2004); Marshall Faulk (Madden 2003); Daunte Culpepper (Madden 2002); Eddie George (Madden 2001); Barry Sanders (Madden 2000); Garrison Hearst (Madden 1999). Most plagued by the Madden Curse were injured, often season-ending injuries, although Barry Sanders retired. Ray Lewis was not affected by the Madden Curse. But, there's a reason. Ray Lewis was the only defensive player to grace the cover by himself.

Prior to Madden 2010, a defensive player never graced the cover of a Madden football video game, aside from Ray Lewis. So, really, the Madden Curse was actually an offensive player curse. But, those rules applied to Madden video game covers featuring ONE star football player. Apparently, the Madden Curse is evolving along with the evolution of the Madden football video game cover. The offensive players that were cursed have now tagged the defensive players, via Larry Fitzgerald to Troy Polamalu, on this year's video game cover. The Madden Curse should no longer negatively affect offensive players. Furthermore, with the curse having befallen Troy Polamalu, the remaining karma that created should propel Larry Fitzgerald to a record-breaking season.

Furthermore, when Albert Haynesworth appears on the cover of Madden 2011 all negative associations of the Madden Curse will be vanquished and replaced by a new Madden Curse for a new era - a Madden Good Luck Curse. So sing praise. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! The Demons Have Been Exorcised! The Madden Curse is Over! Better yet, the Madden Curse is reversed. Thank you Troy Polamalu for taking one for the team.

The Madden Curse is scared of Ray Lewis that is why it didn't get him.
