Hallmark Channel Romantic Movies for Countdown to Valentine's Day

Hallmark Channel has announced a series of new Original movies for special Valentine's Day programming for the "Countdown to Valentine's Day" programming, which begins on February 1, 2011. The new movies being presented by Hallmark Channel for Valentine's Day include "A Valentine's Date," "Smooch" and "Accidentally in Love." A recent release with romantic theme is "Backyard Wedding."

"Backyard Wedding," which premiered in January, 2011, stars Alicia Wit as Kim Tyler, a medical resident on her way to being a doctor. Kim travels back home to get married in her parent's backyard. She has a wonderful fiance, but when she runs into her childhood sweetheart, and former husband, her feelings are confused. Four years' time has changed her ex for the better, while her formerly perfect fiance starts showing selfish tendencies. Fortunately, she has very understanding parents who tell her that if there is no wedding they will just have a very expensive party. On the day of the wedding, it is still not certain whether there will be a marriage. The cast of "Backyard Wedding" includes Alicia Witt, Teddy Sears, Frances Fisher, Markie Post and Ryan Bittle.

"A Valentine's Date" premieres on Friday, February 4, 2011, as the lead-off Original Movie in the 'Countdown to Valentine's Day' campaign. "A Valentine's Date" is about a couple in the process of divorce and in a custody battle for their daughter. At a custody hearing they start bickering and the judge orders a cooling-off period so they can think about what is most important. The new date for the hearing is set for Valentine's Day. "A Valentine's Date" stars Elisa Donovan, Brad Rowe, Tom Skerritt, John Schneider, Tracey Gold and Fred Willard.

"Smooch" is a modern fairy tale about a little girl, her widowed mother and a mysterious man. Zoe Cole (Kieman Shipka) is a 11 year old girl who reads a book about kissing a frog to turn him into a handsome prince. She takes a frog to a pond, kisses it and sends it into the pond. She turns around and sees a bedraggled man and thinks this must be her handsome prince. She takes him home and cleans him up, and decides that he would be a good boyfriend for her mother. Zoe connives to get her mother to hire Percy as her new nanny. "Smooch" stars Kellie Martin, Kiernan Shipka and Simon Kassianides. "Smooch" premieres on Saturday, February 5.

"Accidentally in Love" is about Annie (Jennie Garth) a struggling single mom who works as a waitress. She falls into the rabbit hole when she falls in love with Eddie (Ethan Erickson) an actor who is hiding a secret identity. Eddie plays Mulligan the Rabbit, a popular children's TV character, but is itching for more serious acting roles. Eddie is on the way to an audition when her crashes his car into Annie and the relationship gets off to an acrimonious start. Things change when he meets Annie's daughter,. who loves Mulligan the rabbit. Tragically she is losing her eyesight do to a medical condition Heart melting, Eddie does a very good deed and falls in love with Annie, but a new opportunity may cause him to lose his new love. "Accidentally in Love" stars Jennie Garth, Ethan Erickson, Marilu Henner and Fred Willard. The story was written by Peter Facinelli ("Twilight," " Nurse Jackie"), the husband of Jennie Garth. "Accidentally in Love" premieres on Saturday, February 12.

Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Valentine's Day starts on February 1, 2011, featuring programming about love and romance.
