Hallmark Creative Careers Inspired by Valentine's Day

Marcia Robinson
Career coaches often say that finding the right job is like falling in love with the right person. As we approach February 14, the Valentine's Day images and advertisements inspire thoughts about artists whose passion and creative careers fuel this fun holiday.

The creative artists behind Valentine's Day work in all kinds of jobs. Talented artists work as greeting card writers, photographers, graphic designers, illustrators and animators at Hallmark Cards Inc, located in Kansas City. Probably known as the gurus of sentiment, Hallmark Cards Inc hires about 800 artists including designers, stylists, writers, editors, illustrators and photographers to create or re-design greeting cards and related materials every year.

Imagine working for a company whose career slogan on their job board is, "We help people feel connected to what matters." If you want to become a "Hallmarker", official nickname for those who work for Hallmark, consider some of the creative career opportunities currently available on their job board including hand lettering, editorial writing and photography.

If you or someone you know is considering a creative career in a company like Hallmark, here are two ways to test if a creative career is for you.

1. Participate in one of the many Hallmark creative contests to design cards. Your entry might not earn you a job with Hallmark, but you could earn $250 and the chance to see your card in a Hallmark store.

2. For college students considering creative careers, Hallmark offers summer internship. Hallmark internships have been recognized by Vault.com as one of the top 10 "most unusual" internship programs.

Great job on this. I worked for Hallmark for nearly 10 years but not as a card designer.
