Halloween 3D Director and Writer Officially Announced

Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the director and writer, respectively, of My Bloody Valentine 3D, have both officially signed on to direct Halloween 3D, the newest installment of the Halloween franchise from Dimension Films.

Lussier directed Dracula 2000, Dracula II: Ascension and Dracula III: Legacy. His movie, the 2009 My Bloody Valentine remake, which was shot in 3-D, makes him the perfect director to use the technology in Halloween 3D.

Farmer has written several horror movie scripts, including Jason X, The Messengers and Messengers 2: The Scarecrow.

Halloween 3D will be the 11th film in the Halloween horror franchise, started by John Carpenter and rebooted by Rob Zombie, that has grossed more than $300 million worldwide.

Halloween 3D has an estimated movie theater release date sometime during the summer of 2011.

In early September, the Weinstein Company announced its intentions to move on with the reboot of the Halloween franchise despite the departure Rob Zombie, director of the first two Halloween remake movies. It's uncertain if Zombie's story will remain intact or if the cast will still be comprised of Scout Taylor-Compton, Brad Dourif and Tyler Mane.
