Halloween 3D Pre-production Halted by Weinstein

Halloween 3D was set to begin production in early November, 2009 with an estimated movie theater release date sometime during the summer of 2010. This has all changed when Bob Weinstein, of Dimension Films, decided to stop production of Halloween 3D

The budget for Halloween 3D is estimated at $2.5 million, which is very low considering the large amount of money made on the first two Zombie Halloween sequels when taking into account their low budgets as well.

Originally, Weinstein was trying to get the Halloween 3D into production as quickly as possible due to the schedule of the new director, Patrick Lussier, who is scheduled to direct the Nicolas Cage action film, Drive Angry. The original plan was to rush the production of Halloween 3D to accommodate Lussier's schedule and have the movie released in theaters in the summer of 2010.

Sources say that Weinstein halted the preproduction of Halloween 3D for one of two reasons. It's either due to Weinsteins' recent financial problems or, as an unidentified source said, "Bob just felt it was rushing too fast" with the script's first draft being completed less than a few weeks ago and production on the film set to start in November, be completed in January and released in the summer of 2010.

Halloween 2 performed poorly at the box office and production on Halloween 3D won't begin until spring, 2010, if it at all.

Now, the alleged plan is to wait until Lussier is finished with Drive Angry, refine the Halloween 3D script and then start production of the movie.
