"Come to our house...or we'll come to yours!" is the quote from the Hauntworld.com website as it invites everyone to visit Ozark Nightmares Haunted House in Lebanon, Missouri. Located at 22599 East Highway 32, just outside the city limits, the promise of getting truly scared is so real that they warn against young children under the age of 12 from going through the house. They offer a scare free area for children to make sure the little ones enjoy the season.

Starting September 27, 2008 at 7pm CDT, Friday and Saturday nights through November 1st, the cost for attending this spookfest is $5.00 for the haunt or their corn maze or $10.00 for both. However, bring in a canned good item and purchase a combo ticket and receive $2.00 off and the canned goods will be donated to a local food harvest charity. If you don't bring a canned good, $2.00 per combo admission will be donated to the charity.

The Ozark Nightmares Haunted House features live thrills and chills as well as mechanically animated frights. Hard hitting scares, bone chilling frights, tonsil numbing screaming and very scary, bloody, gory and authentic costumes are donned by the live actors and scare tactic participants. According to the hauntworld website, it is being called the "new standard of fear".

"The pants wettingly scary you only wish you could get in those other haunts!"

Their slogan is " What you see may be disturbing"... I highly suggest that if you have any type of heart issues that perhaps you simply go through their corn maze and leave the terror to those who have a bit stronger fear factor.

Corn Mazes are among the most popular places to frequent in Missouri. Farmers in these rural communities go to some extreme measures to make mazes that are not only fun and interesting but also very artistic. Ones such maze is about 11miles west of Lebanon and is at the Redbeard's Ranch. Featuring tractor pulled hay rides, free parking, restrooms and a picnic area. The hayrides are scheduled on Saturday evenings at dusk and include cider, marshmallows and story-telling around a bonfire. Take Hwy. 64 west past Bennett Spring State Park to 30075 Marigold Drive or call them at 417-533-7337. Their e-mail address is redbeard@redbeardsranch.com.

Located approximately 25 miles west of Lebanon on Farm Road 187 is the Jones Farm. Their maze is usually very intricate and also features a treasure hunt with clues found intermittently along the path in the maze. Inside the big barn you will find games for the kids to play, pumpkins and mums for sale as well as refreshments. The Jones Farm is open for fun from September 24 through November 1. Monday - Friday from 3pm to dusk and Sundays from 10am til dusk. The address is 3170 N. Farm Rd. 187. Phone 417-833-0344. They accept cash and credit cards

About 10 miles west up Interstate 44 from Lebanon, take Exit 113. Travel North to highway Y on the left. Go 6 miles to Highway WW on the right. Go 1 mile to Gunter Farms. Crops are usually available in September and October. They are open Saturdays from 9am to 9pm and Sundays from Noon to 9pm. Monday through Friday evenings are for reservations and private groups. A very detailed maze of corn as well as hay-bale mazes and a small maze inside the big barn for the little ones they also feature fames, refreshments corn stalks for decorating, pumpkins, gourds and mums too. For more information you can contact them at 417-533-8009 or e-mail at gffarms@msn.net and twnz1998@gmail.com.

Finally, to finish off the Halloween season, venture off to the North about 25 miles to Lake of the Ozarks and get lost and terrified at the Morbid Mansion in Osage Beach. Thousands of feet of heart pounding, bone chilling madness featuring "Hollywood style" props, intense visual effects and graphic scenes that will no doubt leave you breathless. Not for the faint of heart. For more information visit http://www.themorbidmansion.com If you dare.

Lebanon, Missouri sits in the heart of the Ozark Mountains and always has a lot of fun and entertaining events for the Halloween season. It's kind of spooky to think that famous people such as Jesse James, the Colton gang and many other notorious and dangerous outlaws from many eras have resided, hid out and died right here in the Ozarks.
