This simple wood burned Halloween bead necklace is a great craft for teen girls and older children. Wood burning crafts are easy and fun for teens and adults.

In this Halloween bead craft project you will be using a wood burning tool to detail wood beads to look like Jack O Lanterns. These Halloween beads can be used in a necklace, as in this Halloween craft, or for any other fun projects you have lined up.

Wood burning tools are super affordable, but best not used by younger children. So, if you are looking for a great Halloween craft for tweens and teens, then try this wood burned Halloween bead necklace craft on for size!

To Make This Halloween Bead Craft Necklace You will need:

Unfinished wood beads
Wood cut outs with a hole in the top
Twine to necklace
Wood burning tool
Orange wood stain

To get your teen started on this wood burning Halloween craft you need to open your package of wood beads. Really any size of unfinished wood beads are perfect for this Halloween craft project fo teenagers, but round will look the most traditional.

Now, plug in the wood burning tool. You will want to use the smallest pencil point like tip on the wood burning tool. Hav eyour teenage slip the metal point into the wood burning tool before you plug it in.

By the way, you can buy a wood burning tool at your local craft store for less than $10.

Use a pencil to draw small jack o lantern style faces on each bead. As you can see oval wood beads and other shapes will make for more fun and whimsical Halloween jack o lanterns.

It is a great idea to use the pencil to mark the face on the wood beads so that you do not make any mistakes when you get started with the wood burning tool.

Now, start wood burning the faces on the Jack O Lantern beads.

By the way, you could also put one letter on each bead to spell out "Happy Halloween." To do this you would want to wood burn one letter on each bead.

After each small Halloween bead has its face you are ready to stain them orange.

I like to string my beads on a wire hanger that has been opened up. Dip your paint brush into the orange wood stain and start painting it onto the Halloween beads.

Use a clean white cloth to wipe away any excess orange wood stain.

Now, you need to make a wood pendant to hang in the middle of the wood burned Halloween necklace. I like to use those pre made wood cut outs for this. You find them in craft stores in the wood working craft aisle.

You can find wood heart pendants, wood circle, pendants, wood square pendants ad many other shapes that are fine for this Halloween necklace craft project.

Now, you can simply wood burn a Jack O Lantern face on your wood pendant. It would look really cool to write "Happy Halloween" or "Boo" on the wood pendant in cursive with yoru wood burning too.

If you make a ghost face, then use a wood stain in white to color the wood.

You could also use a white paint to paint the wood pendant, let it dry, then wood burn the face of the ghost.

Now, let all of this dry.

Use a pre mad necklace or twine to tie your beads into a necklace shape. Tie one knot on the end of the ribbon or twine. Have yoru teenager start slipping on the beads. Untie that first knot and then tie the two loose ends together to form the Halloween bead necklace.
