If you are a fan of Marshmallow Peeps made by the Just Born company then you'll know how addictive those little sugar coated globs of goodness can be. I saw the Milk Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Pumpkins on sale for .33 cents each at a local grocery store to kick off the Halloween season and couldn't pass them up. I was trying to find the dark chocolate and the peanut butter filled versions but had no luck. I wasn't sure what these would taste like or if there would be a layer of sugar between the chocolate and the marshmallow so I was most curious about them.
The chocolate coating is thin but no so much so that it doesn't mix perfectly with the marshmallow; it breaks in to pieces when you bite in to it but it sticks to the marshmallow so it isn't messy. The center is orange and thick but overall this tastes almost like ever other marshmallow treat that's coated with chocolate. For the price I couldn't resist getting them to have around for Halloween as well as to add to special treat bags that I make for a couple kids.
Nutritionally these are best consumed in moderation; they are one ounce each and that's considered one serving. One serving contains 110 calories, 3 grams of fat, 20 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of protein. Since this contains gelatin it is not a vegan-friendly. I can handle the calories and the carbs if I have one or two of these a week; they are extremely satisfying and I never have the urge to have more than one of them at a time. They are a cute, seasonal treat that makes for a nice goodie bag or piƱata filler and I've yet to come across one person that doesn't love them.
