Nook Farm Halloween Harvest Fest
This family oriented event is held in Hartford at the Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses. It has an educational, fun and Halloween theme. It is only held on one day, October 28th, 2006 so make sure to mark your calendar. The event starts off with a guided tour of both the Mark Twain House and the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. On the tour you will learn about Victorian spiritualism and discuss the possibility that Mark Twain's house is haunted. After the tour there are some great Halloween activities that include face painting, pumpkin painting, storytelling, a magic show, palm reading and more. This is great family event. The cost is $6 for kids and $10 for adults.
Haunted Graveyard, Lake Compounce Amusement Park, Bristol
Not only does this annual event claim to be the largest Halloween attraction in Connecticut is also claims to be the scariest in New England. 2006 is the Haunted Graveyard's 16th year and it will be bigger and better than ever. The event is held each year to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
As you walk through this spooky setting you will encounter haunted houses, a graveyard, demons, ghosts and a maze of spooky paths that you can follow. Each year the spooky setting is different with new additions and updates to old features. The 2006 Haunted Graveyard has already opened. It is open to visitors every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 5pm until Midnight. It is also open Halloween night, Tuesday October 31st. The price is $12.95 for kids and $17.95 for adults. The Haunted Graveyard is aimed at those of all ages making it a fun Halloween activity for the whole family, though very young children may find it to scary.
Halloween Haunted Lantern Tour, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford
If you want a spooky experience than a tour through and old cemetery lead only by lantern light might do the trick! Starting a 7pm and running until 9pm on October 27th you can join a group at the Cedar Hill Cemetery for a lantern guided tour, where you will hear about the famous and mysterious residents. Those waiting for their tour will be entertained by a variety of Halloween celebrations that include exhibits, hot apple cider and fortune telling. This Halloween celebration is open to those of all ages; the only restriction is your spook factor.
Grande Halloween Costume Ball, Middletown
For a perfect combination of elegance, mystery and Halloween fun the Grande Halloween Costume Ball lives up to its promises. To top it all off the ball is held on the Spirit of Lady Catherine cruise ship that will glide along the Connecticut River as you enjoy the Halloween celebrations. Boarding begins at 8:30pm at the Harbor Park Landing in Middletown. At 9pm your cruise begins. All guests are encouraged to wear costumes and there is an award for the best one at the end of the night. 1800's Halloween Party, Pettibone Tavern, Simsbury
Held at the historic Pettibone Tavern this is one Halloween Celebration that has been quickly gaining popularity. Though the 1800's Halloween Party is only in its third year tickets to this event sell out at lightening speed, so if you want to go make sure to reserve your spot early. The 2006 Halloween Party is being held on Friday October 27th. Doors open a 6:30pm and you will be welcomed by a spooky theme, psychics, games, prizes and even real Ghost Hunters that will happily discuss your questions with you. The tavern itself dates back to 1780 and played an important part in the civil war. It is believed the first two US presidents stayed there along with the famous author Harriet Beecher Stowe. This is one of the Hartford areas best adult Halloween Celebrations.
