Halloween Celebrations in the Southwest and South Mountain States 2011

Julie Wimmer
The Southwest and South Mountain states of the United States are full of color, especially the hues of fall like burnt orange, yellow's, reds and browns. Below find a list of fun things to do during October and Halloween in these areas of our country.

Cornbelly's Maze and Pumpkin Festival
They provide a new, incredible maze design every year that is worth the trip. Enjoy this seasonal venue from September 30 thru October 31st. Closed Sundays.

This place even has a connection with NASA! Also enjoy the cow train, the pumpkin patch, princess playland and so much more. A nice family outing. Located in Lehi, Utah which is about a half hour outside of Salt Lake City.

The Las Vegas Halloween Parade
The city of sin sounds like a great place to masquerade, pretend you are someone else and have a spooky time. This parade is not shy - they have already suggested dressing up as Bin Laden or a zombie Amy Winehouse, so this is not for the easily offended.
The second annual Las Vegas Halloween Parade is on October 31st at 7pm on 4th Street and Hoover.
Las Vegas, Nevada.

Freeman Farms Pumpkin Festival
Touted as "Arizona's Boutique Pumpkin Patch," their pumpkin festival should not disappoint. Not only do they have pumpkins, but they have entertainment such as music, horse demonstrations, dancers, caneoing and so much more. This is a place to spend more than an hour at with all the regular Halloween stuff - mazes, games, hay rides and more. Open every weekend in October and Columbus day from 9 -5 pm.
Located in Chino, AZ which is two hours north of Phoenix.

13th Door
That's a lot of doors and each with its own scare. This haunted hotel has a history, and it ain't pretty. The spirits of those who died there still roam the place, and the surprises lurk behind each door....creeeekkk. The only survivor, however, lived because he found a 13th door. Hmmmmm.

September 30 - October 31. Sun - Thurs 7-10pm, Fri & Sat 7pm - midnight. Donate a canned food item and get a dollar off admission which is $15.95.
In Aurora, CO just outside of Denver. Light rail stop: Nine Mile Station. I-225 and Parker Road.

I'd never thought of Halloween in Las Vegas before and I bet it's a hoot. We may have to try that next year.
