Halloween Costume Ideas and Shopping Guide

Find Your Best Halloween Costume This Year

Sean Hein
Halloween is celebrated every year on October 31. However, with passing time and marketing of the festival, it has become an event for an entire weekend in most parts of the world. The most alluring Halloween activity is playing dress-up. People of all ages spend a lot of money and making the perfect costume for different parties, to have different approaches and prove they are the best in the parties and houses they go to. Costumes play a prominent role in this holiday. Many partygoers like to spend their brain cells weeks before the festival in preparing for their costume to be perfect. Some prefer to make their costume as funny as possible while there are also others who would go for the ghoulish and gory makeover. Here are some cheap and simple ideas:

1. Joker: This is probably the easiest and the scariest. Imitate the Joker character from the movie "The Dark Knight". All you need is some lipstick, some face cream and some oil paint. Apply the white face cream all over your office so that it stands out. Cover your lips with dark red lipstick and extend it to you cheeks. Brush a few strokes of black or grey oil paint below your eyes and on your cheeks. Knock the door and ask "Why so Serious???"

2. Scream Costume: This is the second cheapest on the list. This costume is adapted from the movie Scream. All you need is a black blanket and a scream mask. If you can't afford a cream mask you can always adapt the idea from the Joker costume. Just paint your face completely white with the cream. Apply two black filled circles around your eyes, and one black filled circle around your mouth. Play around with the shape pf the black paint to look scarier. Cover your head and body with the blank market and you are all set to make everyone scream!

Some dresses can also be funny. Here is a tricky idea that will amuse people around you. Dress up as a Post Box. Just wear a simple red shirt and a red pant. Print out a page that reads" USPS - We deliver chocolates. Please place open candies in the mouth of the post box" and pin it to your shirt. You are all set to receive some sweet candies. Please not that if you need a handful of chocolates rather than a mouthful of chocolates, this might not be the best idea.

Shopping for Halloween starts months before the actual day. All major shopping malls and shops have special Halloween sections opened about a month before Halloween. Some of the major online shopping services like eBay have special Halloween shopping sections too. With so much to buy like costumes, food, candies, and decorations, it is considered the next largest festival season after Christmas.

Here are some shopping websites for outfits and decorations.

The average budget for an American family to spend for Halloween costumes ranges from 0 $ to 250 $ and most of the costumes are not that costly. For Halloween is not a festival where people dress up in riches, but it is a festival where dressing up in rags can pass as a Scarecrow costume. People spend money on a dress which they wear only on one day of the year, but they still enjoy the spirit of the festival.

There are also Halloween party coordinators who plan parties and costumes for all the people who attend the parties. Costume rentals also make a huge amount of business during the season. Altogether Halloween is a wonderful festival where both the spender and the buyer enjoy doing business.
