Halloween Costume Ideas for Teen Boys

Jennifer Claerr
There are many different cool and popular costumes that teen boys can wear on Halloween. In many cases, you can assemble your own costume cheaply and easily instead of buying a costume ready-made. Ask your parents if you can raid their closets, makeup and jewelry stash for the clothing and accessories you need to make your costume. If you can't find the items you need there, you may be able to get them at a thrift store such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army, at the dollar store, a costume store or supermarket. You can also make some Halloween costume clothing and accessories yourself, but always ask your parents before starting any project that's potentially dangerous. Parents can also make these costumes for their teens or provide assistance with costume assembly.

Halloween Costume Idea for Teen Boys: Michael Jackson

To get started on this teen costume, find some black pants that are just a little short for you. Add a glittery or sequined black shirt and jacket. Wear silver metallic socks and one silver glove on your left hand. If your hair is long, black and curly, put lots of styling gel in it to arrange the curls in a Michael Jackson style. You can also use a red leather or vinyl pair of pants and jacket to create a Michael Jackson Halloween Thriller Halloween costume. Use black tape to create a "V" design on the front of the jacket, to trim the bottom of the jacket. To make a Michael Jackson Bad Halloween costume, get some black pants and a black button-down shirt. Add some boots with lots of buckles, or wear boots that have been wrapped with lots of black belts.Add an 80s style black cloth jacket. Wear several studded belts around your hips, and wrap some belts around your upper arms. Wear black fingerless gloves to make your Michael Jackson Bad costume complete.

Find some long brown pants and a brown shirt in a suede-like material with fringe trim. Preferably, the Indian shirt should be long enough to reach the thighs. Wear brown sandals and a decorative headband with a feather. Carry a toy tomahawk or Indian dagger. To create a chief Indian costume, get a large feathered headdress with many feathers going straight up on top and draping down the sides, wear a feather necklace and carry a feathered toy weapon. You can also make a cheap and easy feathered Indian headdress yourself. Cut a long strip of cardboard from a cereal, gift or other chipboard package box and wrap it around your head. Hot glue the headband at the overlap, then hot glue brightly colored feathers to the inside of the band. Paint an elaborate Indian design on the outside of the band with acrylic craft paint. Hot glue any such as cardboard medallions with painted decorations or feathers tied on strings. Work over a surface covered with cardboard and newspaper and be careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue.

Halloween Costume Idea for Teen Boys: Peter Pan

Get some soft brown pants such as sweatpants with a gathered leg. Find a short sleeved Polo-style dark green shirt. Cut the ends of the shirt and the sleeves to create a jagged edge. Remove the buttons from the shirt. Cut holes in the lapels of the shirt and string a brown shoe lace through, tying it at the top. Find a dark green felt hat with a red feather. You can also make the Peter Pan hat yourself by cutting two triangles of green felt the same length as your head, hot gluing them together at the top and adding a feather. Cinch the shirt with a belt, wear brown shoes and carry a toy pirate's sword.

Halloween Costume Idea for Teen Boys: Pirate

To make a teen pirate costume, get some dark brown or black pants, a fancy linen or satin shirt in any color you like and several brightly colored sashes. Also get an eye patch, some black or brown shoes or boots, a clip-on earring and a toy pirate's sword. Get your parents' permission to spray paint the blade of the sword silver to make it look more authentic. Do this outside in a well-ventilated area and put down lots of newspaper to protect your work surface. You can also add a wig with braided strands to your pirate costume. Older teens can even wear a fake mustache or beard applied with spirit gum. Use spirit gum remover when you're ready to take off the appliances.

Halloween Costume Idea for Teen Boys: Vampire

Dress all in black or wear black pants, a white or red shirt and a black vest. Find a black cape with a tall, stiff collar or make one out of a black bed sheet or piece of fabric. Wear white makeup and paint dark shadows around your eyes and in the hollows of your cheeks with eyeshadow. For added effect, paint some fake blood running down your mouth with a red lipstick pencil. You can also add a red tie or scarf and white gloves to your teen vampire Halloween costume. Finish your vampire costume with black formal shoes.

Halloween Costume Idea for Teen Boys: Sailor

Find some loose-fitting white pants and a white long-sleeved shirt with a sailor collar. If you can't find one, you can sew or hot glue a sailor collar on a white shirt. Also, if the shirt doesn't already have it, sew or hot glue some blue trim on the collar and sleeves. Then buy a cheap, white starched sailor's hat. You can also make a sailor costume by pairing a navy blue pair of pants with a matching sailor shirt and hat. Sew or hot glue white stripes to the navy blue hat to make your sailor costume look more interesting. You can also add interest to the costume by tying a white or navy scarf around your neck.
