Halloween Costume: Mermaid (Quick and Simple)

These instructions for making a simple mermaid Halloween costume for a child are so simple that it is almost embarrassing! However, if Halloween arrives and you find that money is a bit tight or stores are running low on costumes, this might be for you! It delighted my daughter and her preschool friends when she was three years old.

Supplies:

-2 large pieces of poster board, your child's choice of color
-scissors
-string
-hole punch
-glitter paint or glue and glitter

Instructions:

Place the two pieces of poster board against each other and draw an outline of mermaid "legs" on the front one. Cut out. Paint matching designs on the two cut outs. Make hole punches at the top of each cut out, on each side. Place string through the holes and size to your child's waist. Ta da! A simple, yet absolutely adorable, mermaid costume! Just add a solid tee shirt and leggings beneath the mermaid "legs.''
