Halloween Costume Suggestions for Warmer Weather

Here's Some Cool Halloween Choices

Jessica Ann
I have spent every Halloween in Florida and I don't remember many that were very cool. It requires planning ahead to be prepared for a hot Halloween. This is certainly not the right climate for those full headed masks, even though they give you the best choice of frightening looks, since you would probably pass out from the heat before you make it to the first house. There are lots of ways you can go with a Halloween costume that won't have you sweating to death. It really kills me every year when I see parents trot their toddlers to your door in a head to toe furry bunny outfit or something of the like. I guess some people just don't get this southern weather and think before they buy their children such ridiculous outfits. I realize children have the desire to dress up as certain characters, however for their comfort and safety you may want to help your children make better decisions. Of course better decisions can also be made by the adults who also choose to dress for Halloween.

One of the easiest and coolest costumes for young girls is the ballerina. It is easy enough to buy a sleeveless body suit/leotard and some cheap ballet flats and presto, the outfit is done. Even if your child wants to add a tutu, then she won't end up over-heated. Another choice is to let her wear a leotard wrap skirt which will make her look adorable while keeping very cool. This also keeps money in your wallet as you can get these simple items in stores such as Wal-Mart.

An option for a larger group of boys and girls is the "Beach Blanket Bingo" cast. All the boys can just wear their swim shorts and cool button front shirts while the girls could wear bathing suits, with or without shorts, and either a cover-up or blouse. The boys and girls can then all wear Keds or simple sneakers or even sandals. Maybe someone in the group could wear a T-shirt with "Lifeguard" on it and a whistle around his or her neck. With these outfits, even though they weren't around during the time of this movie, everyone could carry those little fans, with or without water, to keep themselves really cool. Sticking with a beach theme, you could also do a more Hawaiian outfit. This is as easy as throwing on a Hawaiian shirt and shorts with a big straw hat and you're good to go. The girls could still wear bikinis and throw on a grass skirt that you can get at many places. You could check out grass skirts.net as they offer great skirts for toddlers to adults and at extremely reasonable prices.

One thing that is probably pretty obvious for girls is a cheerleader outfit. Here you've got little skirts and little tops that will certainly keep them from sweating and the fact that they would be wearing sneakers helps to keep them safe and comfortable with all the walking they'll be doing. The boys could also certainly do a cheerleader outfit which would really just require them to be in a matching uniform top and then they can wear cool shorts or pants.

Some other options are the genie outfits for girls and a nice white serviceman outfit for the boys. One more that is popular and certainly with the ability to keep it simple and cool would be along the lines of the Crocodile Hunter. Steve Irwin was always in a short sleeve shirt and matching shorts, usually khaki colored and there is also Bindi, whom I'm sure lots of little girls wouldn't mind being for Halloween.

When it comes to the adults, we can certainly get a little more creative and also daring. Some thoughts that come to mind are Tarzan and Jane for a cool and sexy couple or Jeannie and Major Nelson. Really daring? How about Adam and Eve with some strategically placed leaves. If you're really one of those die hards though and need to be scary, then go ahead and don the mask, however you may want to opt for a bathing suit underneath your robe as opposed to fully clothed. I just wouldn't recommend this if you have an open cape or anything that doesn't completely close. We don't want to really scare the kids now do we?
