Ninja Costume
I hate to be stereotypical, but honestly can anyone be a more convincing ninja than an Asian person? All you need is a black hoodie, black leggings and cover your face (except your eyes of course) with a black bandana. It also helps to have a sword or some kind of ninja weapon. Also make sure you lurk behind trees and jump out at people...silently. No yelling "rahrrr" or "boo".
Famous Asian People Costumes
Not everyone is aware of them, but there are famous Asian people that would make great Halloween costumes. Yo Yo Ma being one. All you need is a pair of glasses and a cello. Wear a suit if you really want to be convincing. Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas is an easy costume for Asian people also if you happen to have a mohawk, a pair of large, oversized sunglasses and some rocker clothes. If you have an Asian friend with long hair, they can dress up as Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, even though he is not Asian.
Other famous Asians to consider are Kim Jong Il (be careful), Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Tila Tequila, Ghandi and Genghis Khan.
Karate or Kung Fu Halloween Costume
One of the easiest costumes for Asian people is karate guy or kung fu girl. A solid colored robe and either barefoot or slippers along with a tie around your head is sufficient. You will have to pretend to bust bricks with your hands and feet and yell out "hi yaaaa" periodically but other than that you're good to go for a Halloween costume.
What Not to Dress Up as If You are Asian
In these times we want to believe that anything is possible but there are certain Halloween costumes that no Asian person should ever wear. I'm placing my Dolly Parton costume on this list and adding a few others.
Dolly Parton
Cowgirl
Cowboy
Michael Jackson
Elvis Presley
Barbie
If all else fails, you can always buy the costumes with the masks like the Gerald Ford and George Bush Halloween costumes and there will probably be President Obama masks available too. Whatever you decide to dress up as, whether Asian or not, have a safe and happy Halloween!

Post a CommentIdk. I thought it was funny. I really hope ALL Asian people aren't suddenly running around dressed up as ninjas because of me...
Seriously? The best you can come up with Ninja or Karate costumes? Lol. Talk about completely playing into stereotypes.
I'm asian. I'm gonna be honest, it's true! Some costumes don't look good on asians. It has NOTHING to do with racism. Anyways, this article has nothing unique in it at all and is quite boring. I would never wear any one of these because I don't want to look like a loser that has the same costume as 50 other people at the party.
These are crap ideas imo, sorry. But really, these aren't... helpful. At all.
and: WHAT IF I'M GANGURO?
"What Not to Dress Up as If You are Asian" - that's just bullshit. Go watch Michelle Phan's barbie tutorial and say that again.
I believe I've seen an Asian Elvis or two on TV.
