Halloween Costumes for Big Dogs

Big Dogs like Halloween Costumes Too

Halloween costumes for big dogs are easier to put together that you think. I have two big dogs, a St. Bernard and a Newfoundland. I love to dress them up in their Halloween costumes for big dogs because even though they are giant, they are still my cute little puppies and I love to dress them up for Halloween.

Halloween costumes for big dogs can be very simple or more complicated, depending on how much time you want to spend dressing up your dog with their Halloween costumes for big dogs. You can get some ideas on how to create your own Halloween costumes for big dogs by reading on.

My favorite Halloween costumes for big dogs is a rescue dog costume. I love to dress up my St. Bernard for Halloween in his "Ski Patrol Rescue" costume. I have a little brandy keg that put around his neck and he wears a vest with the words "Ski Patrol Rescue" stenciled on it and if he allows it, we have ski goggles that we put on him to complete his costume. Halloween costumes for big dogs don't have to be extravagant to be adorable. You don't have to own a St. Bernard to be creative when you make Halloween costumes for big dogs. Any larger sized dog will look cute as a "Ski Patrol Rescue" dog. Halloween costumes for big dogs can include my second costume for bid dogs and that is the "Coast Guard Rescue" dog costume that my Newfoundland, Meadow dresses up as. She has a bright yellow vest that says "water rescue" and she has a doggie inner tube that fits around her huge body, a captains hat and goggles. Our Halloween costumes for big dogs won us prizes in our local pet parade. Again, you don't have to be extravagant nor do you need to spend lots of money creating Halloween costumes for big dogs. If you simply use a little imagination, you can make original and snazzy Halloween costumes for big dogs.

Halloween costumes for big dogs can also include props if you are creative and dog will tolerate a little something extra. For my St. Bernard, we saddled him up like a horse with a very lightweight toy saddle and a few lightweight ribbons to represent reins. He also wore a cowboy hat to complete his western horse look. At our local pet parade, lots of Halloween costumes for big dogs included dogs that pulled covered wagons. Again, if your dog will tolerate some lightweight props, these can look so sweet!

Other Halloween costumes for big dogs that were also popular at the pet parades were big dogs that were dressed up like Cleopatra. There was a gorgeous Bernese Mountain Dog that was dressed like Cleopatra and she sat atop a wagon that was decorated like a throne. It was spectacular. Halloween costumes for dogs can also include sled dog costumes. You can get little bootie type shoes for your dogs, and put some lightweight leases or ribbons on them and they can represent sled or mushers. If you use your imagination, the possibilities are endless. Of course, Halloween costumes for big dogs can include clown costumes, rabbit costumes in which you simply put rabbit ears on a lightweight headband and put it on your dog, if he let's you and Mickey or Minnie Mouse. They sell Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears at Disney stores and they are very lightweight and dogs are usually very accepting of them. The Minnie Mouse ears are cute and have a little pink satin bow on them.

More Halloween costumes for big dogs can include a dinosaur costume in which you can either purchase one or make one out of a few yards of green felt or purple felt if you like Barney and the sew dinosaur spines onto the back of the costume by sewing three sides of a piece of felt and stuffing the open hole with quilting batting and then sewing it shut. These make good dinosaur spines and can easily be sewn to the back of the costume.

Halloween costumes for bid dogs can turn your precious puppy into the king or queen of the pet parade or simply the king or queen of your home! If your dogs are loved like mine, they don't need costumes to make them kings or queens or the home because they already are.
