Halloween Costumes for Couples 2009

When it comes to choosing a Halloween costume, the possibilities are endless. Whether your choice falls on the most romantic couple of all time or the cartoon couple, make sure that you will feel comfortable playing the character.

I have had a hard time choosing among the many couple ideas found on the web. I think my favorite of all is the Cinderella-Prince Charming duo when it comes to Disney. However, there are plenty more choices available to suit most couple's likes and desires. When choosing my top five costumes, I tried to focus on outfits that are somewhat easy to come up with or even make.

Here are my top five choices for a couple's Halloween:

1. The Romantic Couple - Cleopatra and Julius Caesar
This would be the right costume for the couple who wishes to go back to Roman times and experience the romantic rush of representing two of the most famous rulers of the time.

Cleopatra: you will need a dress with a cloak, a sash, a collar piece, and sandals. If you are lucky enough to have straight long jet black hair, all you will need is a headpiece. If you have any other type of hair, you might want to consider a wig as well. Black eyeliner and black mascara are going to be a must for your makeup.
Julius Caesar: you will need a toga, a robe, a belt, sandals, and a crown of laurel.

2. The Gangster Couple - Bonnie and Clyde
Do you feel you want to go against the grain for one night? Do you want people to be whispering about you and your adventures? This might very well be the perfect outfit for you: the most famous gangster couple of the early '30s. Brush up on their stories and share them with company... your friends will feel like they have stepped back in time.

Bonnie: pin striped skirt, jacket, hat, black pumps. Bobbed, short hair do will complete the outfit.
Clyde: pin striped pants, jacket, black shirt, brimmed black hat, black shoes, toy gun.

3. The Disney Couple - Jasmine and Aladdin
This is the perfect dress up for the couple who wants to fly away for a night and visit the world. This reversed Cinderella version of the poor boy getting the rich princess is a charming tale that is sure to win the hearts of your friends. He is charismatic and she is beautiful. Unfortunately the Genie does not come with this ensemble and neither does the carpet; however, your imagination is all you will need for a spectacular night among the stars.

Jasmine: silky, Arabian style pants and top, tiara.
Aladdin: silky, Arabian style pants and top, vest, cape, turban, you may add the lamp if you wish.

4. The Western Couple - Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok
If you have ever dreamed of the Wild West, this is the perfect dress up for you. Even without a stage coach to ride or a heard of buffalos to round up, these costumes will have you singing "The Black Hills of Dakota" in no time.

Calamity Jane: pants and jacket (with fringe) or vest, blouse with ribbon to tie around neck, hat, boots, holster with toy gun. Wear the hair in a low ponytail.
Wild Bill Hickok: pants and jacket, shirt with bolo tie and vest, hat, boots, holster with toy gun.

5. The Sci-Fi Couple - Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker
This is the perfect outfit for the couple that is out of this world. If you are Star Wars fans let your passion show with these costumes.

Princess Leia: white long dress with belt; hair worn in coiled buns around ears.
Luke Skywalker: pants, tunic, belt, and lightsaber.
