Halloween Costumes Created by Shopping at the Salvation Army
Thrift Stores Can Provide Thrifty Halloween Costumes
Black tights for a prince or a witch, metal pot for a robot or a chef costume. Beat up guitar for a rock star or Hannah Montana wanna be. Prom dresses for a perfect princess look, add glitter and sparkles to finish the look. Check out the purses and over sized bags if you want to dress up as an old hag. The Salvation Army has the look, if you take the time to view all their goods on hooks. One can get shoes with mile high heels to become a goth punk or a love child of the 60's or 70's generation. Don't forget to get some puka shells to finish the look.
The Salvation Army might not have prepackaged Halloween costumes on hand. They sure do have plenty of goodies to make yourself into a ghoulish ghost. Grab up the white gloves and a white cotton bed sheet. Look for a inner tube that one would use in the swimming pool. Get these goodies home. Shred the fingers of the gloves to appear ragged and do the same to the sheet at feet length. Cut out eye holes for safety sake. Fit the sheet over your head, and slip into the blown up inner tube. The inner tube on your waist gives the appearance of a fat jolly ghost. Paint your face all white with face make up. Tie up the sheet with a long piece of rope above the inner tube to help create arm holes. The Salvation Army just made a groovy ghost out of you. So say boo!
At the Salvation Army you can save money and get the look you want this Halloween. Need accessories to make a Halloween costume complete? Look for hand cuffs and become a police officer. Grab up that cane and transform into grandma or a grandpa. Flannel shirts and worn corduroy jeans paired with suspenders and smeared with grease makes for a great hobo. Don't forget the tattered lop sided old hat.
There is much to be said for a Halloween costume you made yourself. Decide what you want to be. Write a list of items you will need. Go to the Salvation Army store and have fun finding all the items on your list and I bet you will win first place for best costume. You might consider being a firefighter, or a box of crayons, maybe even a devil or a Salvation Army clerk!
