Halloween Costumes and Fashions for Cats

Lauren Romano
While some cats don't mind wearing Halloween costumes, quite a few dislike wearing clothing especially on their head. Some owners prefer to have their cats wear something small for Halloween instead of a full costume. If you are a cat owner that wants your pet dressed in Halloween fashion, there are several options for even the most picky feline.

Pumpkin Cat Collar

A pumpkin cat collar is an excellent way to dress your cat for Halloween when he doesn't like wearing anything else. He can also wear it throughout the fall season. The pumpkin collar, such as the one on the Big Paw Designs website, is a fashionable item the cat can reuse every Halloween.

King Costume

Chances are your cat acts like the king of the castle, so a king cat costume could match him quite well. The costume, such as one on Costume Craze, typically comes with a cape and a crown but for the cat that hates wearing things on his head, the velvet cape alone will still be a great Halloween costume.

Tutu

If your cat is extra girly, a cat tutu can be an excellent option for a Halloween costume. The tutu, such as the one on Two Poodles & Me, fits right around the waist and stays in place with an elastic waistband. The tutus come in a variety of colors, styles and sizes.

Angel Halloween Costume

Your cat may be anything but an angel, but at least he can be one for Halloween. The angel costume, such as the one on the PETCO site, comes with white wings and a halo. If he doesn't like wearing anything on his head, the wings alone will suffice.

Soft Claws Nail Caps

If you aren't fond of putting your cat in a full costume, consider using Soft Claws nail caps. Nail caps fit right over your cats nails to prevent him from scratching and ruining everything from clothes to furniture. They come in a variety of colors so for Halloween, purchase a set of black and orange, such as the ones on the Doctors Foster and Smith site. If you are uncomfortable applying them yourself, ask your vet to do it for you.

When choosing a cat Halloween costume, make sure not to guess about what his size is. Measure him first, then compare it to the sizing chart on the outfit package or on the website as sizes often vary by company. If you are unsure about which size to get, contact the company directly for more assistance.

Anyone who would put a tutu on a cat deserves to be scratched.
