Halloween Costumes Made from Wedding or Bridesmaids Dresses

Mary Wensing Dvorachek
I had no use for my wedding dress as my daughter was taller than me. My dress looked like it was crocheted so there was no way of adding length to my dress. My daughter could already wear my wedding dress when she was in 6th grade. So we took the dress as is, added some colorful ribbons, had her wear some shiny costume jewelry, we put her hair up and put in a homemade tiara made of wire and glass beads.

She could either be a princess or a fairy god mother.

If you have the time, you can change the underskirt color of your dress to add color. or you can get some ritz dye and dye the dress a different color. Make it into a costume from when the Kings and queens were big in Europe. She can be a lady in waiting. Just check out pictures on the internet of different periods, and go from their, add some sheer material here and there, add lace, make the dress shorter, just experiment and be creative. Fancy shoes. A stick with a glitter star on the end of it to make a magical wand, and you have a fairy god mother.

Your little gal can be Cinderalla, Snow White, or who ever she wants to be. For fancy shoes, just get some fancy buttons and attach them to the shoes. The ones with the large stones are the best.

Your daughter or grand daughter might not be able to use your wedding dress when they get married, but they will have had the honor of having one of the best costumes for Halloween.

You can also use your wedding dress for a school play.
