Scarecrow Halloween Costume for Twin 1
Supplies
Pair of old jeans
Flannel shirt
Floppy hat
Scraps of Fabric
Polyester fiber stuffing
Straw
Bandana
Select a pair of old loose fitting jeans. Rip a few holes in the legs in a ragged design. Smudge with a little dirt to give them a lived in appearance.
Cut fabric scraps into squares, fraying the edges, if desired. Sew the patches randomly to the jeans.
Choose a loose fitting flannel shirt a size or two bigger than your child wears. Make several tears to give it a tattered look.
Sew patches on the floppy hat.
Tuck the shirt into the top of the jeans. Stuff the shirt with polyester fiberfill to give your child a stuffed look.
Tie a bandana around the neck cowboy style.
Add straw around the wrists, protruding between buttons and around the neck.
Paint facial features with face paint. Make cheeks rosy and add a square or triangular brown nose. Make cross marks over the mouth if preferred.
Tin Man Halloween Costume for Twin 2
Supplies
Box/ foam board
Duct tape
Funnel
Dryer Vent Hose
Grey/silver spray paint
Grey socks
Make the tin man's body. The tin man's body can be made from a simple cardboard box that reaches from the chest to the middle of the thigh, but if you prefer something a bit more defined, use heavy poster board to form a cylinder. Add straps to the inside of the box to suspend the cylinder from the shoulders.
Spray the box or cylinder with grey or silver metallic paint. Draw on rivets with a permanent marker.
Cut armholes at the appropriate level.
Glue or duct tape the dryer vent hose (place tape in the inside of the box so it doesn't show) to the armholes in the box.
Slip the dryer hose legs over your child's legs.
Add an elastic strap to the funnel to hold the "hat" in place.
Cover shoes with long grey socks or duct tape.
Use grey face paint or silver eye shadow to color your child's face.
Don't forget to take pictures of your Wizard of Oz characters. And remember to clearly label which twin is in which costume. Although you may think you will always remember who was the tin man and who was the scarecrow, when you look back years from now, ti might be a challenge to tell who is who.
