You can create many Halloween crafts with children using paper mache. Paper mache is a fun medium for kids, and it is perfect for Halloween crafts. This article will discuss Halloween crafts you can do with children using paper mache.

Bloody Body Parts

Paper mache is a great medium for children to use to make bloody body parts for Halloween. For this craft you will need plastic wrap, newspaper, flour, water, scissors, glue, paint, and paintbrushes. You will also need a container, bucket, or pot to mix the flour, water, and newspaper in.

Start by deciding what body part you want to create. An arm, a leg, or hand is a good choice for this Halloween craft. Start by wrapping the appropriate body part in plastic wrap. Then help children wrap the newspaper into strips. Mix the flour and water together to make a pancake batter like consistency.

Dip the strips of newspaper into the mixture, pull out of the mixture, and wipe off excess liquid. Help children wrap the newspaper around the body part. Cover the entire body part with a couple layers of the paper mache. Allow the newspaper to slightly solidify. Cut along the length of the cast and remove.

Use more newspaper to over the end of the body part that your limb was in. Add glue and more paper mache along the cut seam. Allow the entire project to dry completely. When the body part has dried, paint it appropriately and add red paint for blood.

Carnivorous Plant

Another fun paper mache project for children is a man eating plant. For this Halloween decoration you will need flour, a knife, water, a bucket, newspaper, paint, a paintbrush, foam balls, a flower pot, and wire. Start by mixing the flour and water together to a thick, pancake batter consistency. Then rip the newspaper into strips.

Use the knife to cut a wedge out of the foam ball. Then place some foam securely into the flower pot. Stick a long piece of wire into the foam ball and the foam base of the flower pot. Use the paper mache to cover the entire ball, wire, and foam block inside the pot. Add teeth to the mouth of the ball, and add eyes as well using the paper mache. Allow the entire project to dry and paint it to look like a carnivorous plant.

These fun paper mache projects are a lot of fun for children during the Halloween season. These inexpensive crafts are great for Halloween decorations, and your children will be proud to see these crafts around the home during Halloween.
