Creating Halloween crafts with children using yarn is a fun and inexpensive way to get your children involved with the Halloween holiday. Yarn is a low-cost material that is fun and easy for children to use. This article will provide detailed instructions, supply lists, and tips on creating Halloween craft ideas for children using yarn.

Ghost Key Chain

Children will enjoy creating a ghost keychain or pendant using yarn for Halloween. For this craft you will need white yarn, scissors, black felt, glue, and a keychain ring. Start this easy Halloween craft by helping children hold their hands out flat. Then help children wrap the white yarn around their hands several times.

After a large part of their hands are covered, help the children cut the end of the yarn. Also cut a 6 inch length of yarn. Help children pull the bundle of yarn off of their hand. Place the flattened bundle on top of the 6 inch length of yarn. Pull the piece of yarn around the top section of the bundle and tie it securely. Then cut the bottom loops and the excess yarn to create a ghost body. Add felt cut out shapes to the head for eyes using glue. Then help children add the keychain to the top loops of the ghost's head. This Halloween craft is fun and easy for children to make a key chain or pendant.

Pumpkin

Another great Halloween craft that uses yarn is a pumpkin. For this craft you will need orange yarn, glue, scissors, black felt, and a green pipe cleaner. Start by tying the ends of the orange yarn into a knot. Then help children wrap the yarn around the knot to make a ball. Make sure to wrap the ball so it is round but also slightly uneven. Then glue the ends of the yarn to secure the ball in place.

Next cut the green pipe cleaner into a 3 inch piece. Bend it in half and twist. Then add glue to the end of it and push it into the top of the pumpkin. Add black felt cut outs for eyes, nose, and a mouth. This easy yarn craft is a great project for children on Halloween.

Yarn is a great medium for children; it is cheap and easy to use. These Halloween crafts are a great way to involve children in crafts for the Halloween season.
