For this project, you will need (per pumpkin):
- One faux pumpkin or real pumpkin in any size
- Mild dish detergent
- Water
- Paper towels
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a color of your choice
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a second color of your choice for the stem
- Painter's tape or masking tape
- Craft paper or a dissembled paper bag
- Pencil
- Monogram stencil
- Elmer's white glue
- Glitter in a coordinating color of your choice
- Artist's paintbrush
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
Cover the area you will be crafting your glittered monogram pumpkin at with several sheets of old newspapers and/or a rather large drop cloth. Gently wash the outside of either the real or faux pumpkin with a mild dish detergent. Rinse the outside of the pumpkin well. Dry it with paper towels and leave it to set for an hour or so to continue drying.
Use a bit of painter's tape or masking tape to fully cover the stem of the pumpkin. Spray the rest of the pumpkin body with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Add a few thick coats until the orange of the pumpkin is no longer showing through. Once dry, paint the pumpkin using two or more coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a color of your choice. Let the pumpkin dry for a few hours.
Remove the masking or painter's tape from the stem of the pumpkin. Use more pieces of tape and either craft paper or a dissembled paper bag to cover the body of the pumpkin. Prime the stem using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Wait about thirty minutes before painting the pumpkin stem using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a second color of your choice. Dry completely.
Remove all craft paper and tape from the pumpkin. Carefully draw out the monogram from a stencil onto the side of the pumpkin body. Trace the lines using Elmer's white glue. Immediately sprinkle the glue with glitter in a coordinating color of your choice. Shake off the excess glitter. Use an artist's paintbrush with a bit of water to remove any excess or messy glue and glitter lines. Let the pumpkin dry completely before displaying your new creation.
