Halloween Decorating Ideas

Linda M. McCloud

It doesn't matter if you are throwing a Halloween party, allowing trick or treaters entrance into your home or going to be spending the night watching scary movies, you should at least decorate one room of your home in the Halloween spirit. Here are some ideas to consider and to help get you in the mood.

Think orange and black

Yes, the color of the day and night will be orange and black. This will make decorating easier. You can stream orange and black streamers from tables. You can add orange frosting to chocolate cupcakes and top with black sprinkles, while placing them on an orange tray for all to see. You can change your curtains to black ones for the night. You can even place orange and black candles to light when evening comes.

Think black cats

Decorate your home and the outside of your home, with black cats of all shapes and sizes. These cats don't necessarily have to be mean ones; they can adorn big smiles on their faces.

Think Pumpkins

It wouldn't be Halloween if you didn't have a pumpkin or two sitting on your porch, table, etc. You can buy these in many nick knack varieties. Plus, you most definitely have to try carving up at least one real one of your own.

Think Candy Corn

Yes, candy corn is a delicious Halloween treat. It is even low in calories. Yet, it can also be a great decorating tool as well. Place some in a bowl. Place some in a small see through vase and then stick a black rose in the vase.

Think Mums

When you think of Halloween, do you picture fall mums? These are a must as table pieces and porches. Purchases in our favorite fall colors and be sure to place them where fall frost won't touch them during those chilly nights.

Think Creepy Cobwebs

Finally when you think of Halloween, do you think of creepy spiders and cobwebs from every corner? If you do, be sure to make a trip to your local dollar store and buy some fake cobwebs and fake spiders and place in those corners.

Yes, Halloween Decorating can be fun. It can also be easy. Yet, it shouldn't be forgotten or it will make Halloween less ghoulish and less memorable.
