Halloween Decorating - 'Toy Story' Decorations and Pass-out Treats
Instead of Scary-Go Merry and Give the Little Ones a Big Wonder
You could go with the usual scary antics of a haunted house to the theme of "Nightmare on Elm Street" or "The Nightmare before Christmas," both are very popular this year and sure to be a hit. Alternatively, you could branch out beyond what is scary and focus on the many great movies like "Toy Story" that children are fond of while decorating your home for Halloween. Impressively, "Toy Story 3" is rated the top movie of all time by Yahoo! participants.
I think "Toy Story" would be an excellent theme. "Toy Story" appeals to both genders. Kids are so familiar with the characters, that you are sure to see, many a Buzz Light Year, Bo-Peep, Woody and other costumed children come to your door with delight. The great thing about this theme is it is very easy to get the needed items at a great price from most local department stores, party stores and even some dollars stores, but make a thorough inventory of your own supplies first. You never know what inspiration you'll find.
Rent one of the "Toy Story" movies from Netflix- (they even have it on streaming) then set up your flat screen TV in the front window and play the movie or movies throughout the evening.
Toy Story Accessories- Beach balls, banners and balloons can add to the decorations. They can be strung from the rafters of your house or flank your porch. These are all inexpensive options. Use one of the many online resources to get stencil kits for free or cheap. You can use these to design pumpkins, make paper bag lanterns to line your walk way or go big and try to make life size cut outs. Party supplies can provide you with treat bags, treats, pencils, small toys and candy for pass-outs.
Have your household dress up as the Toy Story Characters- This is especially fun if you have a tween or teen household not interested in going 'trick or treating' but rather staying home and creating a party atmosphere with friends while entertaining and passing out treats to the little ones. Use your imagination to create costumes or buy them. You can also buy "Toy Story" masks. Woody would be easy to make by stuffing a pair of jeans and a western shirt, along with a cowboy hat and boots you may already have. And while you are dressing up as a "Toy Story" character, get into the part, really sink your teeth in your theatrical talents buy putting on a good show and truly becoming your character "Toy Story" for the night.
Have a happy, safe and wonderful Halloween!
