Throwing streamers across the room and putting up balloons can make a room look great but it's the spooky decorations that really get your party going. Here are a few homemade ones you can try for yourself and even get the kids involved:
- One easy way to scare your guests is a floating ghost. All you need is a coat hanger, a white bed sheet and a marker pen. Make a small hole in the middle of the sheet and pull the top part of the hanger through. Get the marker pen and draw a scary face on the front of the sheet. Hang the hanger and sheet from somewhere high like a light fitting (always making sure it is safe of course) and watch as your guests get spooked by their floating host!
- Why not try freaking your friends out with a whole swarm of spiders at their feet? You will need black pipe cleaners, black fuzzy balls and googly eyes. Simply wrap the black pipe cleaners around the fuzzy balls and bend them to resemble spider legs. Attach the googly eyes on the front and you're done! For a greater effect you can add fangs underneath the eyes. To scare your guests to death why not try all different sizes scattered on the floor or hiding in the corners?
- Instead of having bowls for your treats why not present your food in a more scary way. To make mummy head bowls you will need 2 pieces of card, some toilet roll, some sticky tape, a pen and some googly eyes. Start by taking one piece of card and making it into a tube. Use the sticky tape to hold it in place. Then get your other piece of card and draw around one of the ends (it helps to add little tabs so you can attach the card to the tube). Use the sticky tape to attach the circle to the end of the tube. Once this is done, you can begin to wrap the toilet roll around the tube. Attach at the end with sticky tape and add the googly eyes. Draw on a mouth and nose with the pen. You can use a red pen to create a blood effect if you wish. Fill with any dry snack such as popcorn or chips and you're ready to go!
Now you have a few ideas for some homemade decorations why don't you get your thinking cap on and try your hand at making some other scary decorations? Make it a party to remember!
