Halloween Festivities 2007 in San Diego, California

It's that scary time of the year again which means Halloween is almost here! You know, costumes, candy, ghosts, goblins and all that good stuff. The best part about living right next to a large city is all the holiday festivities and Halloween is no exception. There's so many fun activities around town that your family which includes the kids (some are not suitable so be sure to read through) can enjoy so I just had to make a list. So without further ado, I present to you San Diego's Halloween festivities for 2007!

Del Mar Scaregrounds

Location: Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del Mar
Dates: Oct. 12-14, 18-21, 24-31
Times: 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on all other dates when they are open
Prices: Single Event is for the Haunted Hayride or House of Horror for 13.99
Double Event is for the The Chamber AND Haunted Hayride OR House of Horror for 17.99
Triple Event is for the Haunted Hayride, House of Horror as well as The Chamber for 26.99

Here at the Del Mar Scaregrounds, you have an option of choosing from 1 to 3 events, depending on how scared you want to be. One event they call the Haunted Hayride where you ride on an actual wagon through barns that are of course haunted. What will you see on the ride? Maybe a zombie or two. This event might not be suitable for children that are young. Then there is the House of Horror! The title seems self explanatory. I'm sure you might come across a ghost. Now this event isn't suggested for anyone that is under the age of 10. Finally we have The Chamber! It's a long passageway that is a bit of a maze and you'll never know who you'll run into.

Balboa Park's Haunted Trail

Location: Balboa Park, 6th Avenue and Laurel Street, San Diego
Dates: Runs through October 31st. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays with the exception of October 29th and 30th from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Times: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Fridays as well as Saturdays from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Price: 13.99

This unique haunted event takes visitors outside and follow the trails if you dare! I suppose it's easier here to creep up on somebody when it's outside. You'll never know what is lurking within the trees or bushes. Be prepared to be frightened!

Viejas Outlet Center's Halloween Festival and Costume Competition For Kids

Location: Viejas Outlet Center, 5000 Willows Road, Alpine
Date: Saturday, October 27th
Time: Costume Competition starts at 2:00 p.m.
Price: FREE

Here's something that the kids will enjoy. There is a free, costume competition that is being held at the Viejas Outlet Center. It ranges in ages from a baby up to 14. So come on down and show them how creative you can be. They will also have games and prizes. It sounds like fun! Winners will be awarded a 100.00 gift card that can be used at the Outlet Center there.

Halloween Family Day at San Diego's Model Railroad Museum

Location: San Diego Model Railroad Museum, 1649 El Prado, San Diego
Date: Sunday, October 28th
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Price: Admission only which is 6.00 for adults and children 15 and under are free.

Come and celebrate Halloween with the Model Railroad Museum in San Diego! There will be a fun scavenger hunt and children who come wearing a costume will get surprise! There will also be other exciting festivities at the museum. It's sure to be enjoyable for the entire family.
