Halloween Fun for Adults

When you are a kid you have the fun of dressing up for Halloween, skipping from door to door asking for candy while giving nothing in return. As an adult we have the option of Halloween parties, which are just like regular parties, only you get to dress up. Looking for a better activity to make Halloween special again? Head to the first annual Shock Around the Clock, to be held at the newly remodeled Grandview Theatre.

Shock Around the Clock is exactly what it sounds like. 24 Hours of new and classic horror films. And yet, it is so much more than that. In addition to a Costume Contest (First prize $100) and a Scream Contest (warm up your vocal chords), there will be a celebration of the 200^th birthday of Edgar Allen Poe (man that guy is getting old!) There will be plenty of prizes, as well as many trailers and shorts from the archives, plus other unworldly surprises.

There will also be a special guest. Stuart Gordon, scary movie genius, best known for his 1985 horror masterpiece Re-Animator, will be in attendance for the evening. Gordon was present for the last horror marathon in 1992 and will be returning this year as the guest of honor as we review The Black Cat, starring Jeffrey Combs as Edgar Allen Poe. Gordon will be providing a Q&A session as well introducing his favorite non-Gordon film, Irreversible.

Another special treat of the night will be the Columbus premier of the new film I See the Dead, starring Dominic Monaghan (Lost) and Ron Perlman (Hell Boy). In the film a graverobber who faces death, Arthur Blake (Monaghan), recounts his 15 years as a thief to a visiting clergyman (Perlman). His story details his life from his criminal youth to his "partnership with seasoned ghoul Willie Grimes as they hunt creatures unwilling to accept their place in the ground." The film promises to be everything a scary movie should be, with action and horror that will leave the most seasoned movie-goer breathless!

The festivities begin at noon on Saturday, October 17^th and continue until noon Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $40 (cash is your best bet here). The Grandview Theatre can be located at 1247 Grandview Avenue, Columbus, Ohio,43212. And for all attendees who last the night there will be "blood scrawled" certificates. So grab your friends and your scariest costumes and get ready to scream the night away.
